Sunao Katabuchi's Fukufuku no Chizu Short Streams With English Subtitles

The official Fukushima Prefecture YouTube channel began streaming Sunao Katabuchi's new anime short, Fukufuku no Chizu, with English subtitles on Monday. The short is the second brand movie for the prefecture's variety magazine Fukushima Map. It follows a French philosopher who gets lost in Fukushima and discovers the region's culture through detours.

The short is the second brand movie for Fukushima Map, following Aka no Kioku, which debuted in March 2025 under Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama. The Japanese version of Fukufuku no Chizu appeared on the official website on March 24, after a completion event on March 5 at Forum Fukushima 5 theater.

Katabuchi directed the short at CONTRAIL and wrote the script. He reunited with staff from In This Corner of the World, including assistant director Chie Uratani, manga creator Fumiyo Kouno for original character designs, and kotringo for music. Izumi Seguchi handled character design and animation direction. Katabuchi previously directed the reconstruction support song Hana wa Saku for NHK's Great East Japan Earthquake Project.
