D3 Publisher announced on August 25 that Earth Defense Force 6.2 INVADERS FROM ANOTHER WORLD, a powered-up version of Earth Defense Force 6, will launch for PlayStation 5 in 2027. ABEMA's rapper discovery audition RAPSTAR2026 has drawn 12,953 applicants, the highest ever, nearly double last year's 6,780. The 2026 season premieres October 10 on ABEMA, with a 10 million yen prize, up from 3 million. Seven producers provided beats for application videos.

The third Xross Stars Challengers Cup 2026#03 OSAKA was held August 8-9 at OMM Exhibition Hall, the first Osaka stop among official events. Over 2,000 people entered the Booster Pack 4 "Grand Resonance" environment tournament. "Zekemi" won the championship, receiving a CHAMPION-spec foil-stamped playmat and the limited PR card "All-Star Combo." The event also announced Booster Pack 5 "Ignition Vortex," scheduled for release on October 30, 2026.

Manga Mavericks Books announced at its Anime NYC panel that it has licensed two manga. Midnight Robot by Yōhei Sajita, a story about a girl with a screw in her head that can summon a giant robot, arrives in May 2027. Arai-kun & Haruma-senpai by Akahachi, a campus romance, hits digital in December 2026 and print in June 2027.

C&R Creative Studio announced on August 21 that it will release the roguelike bullet-hell action game Void Reaver in Japan. The PC (Steam) version launches first on November 11 at 990 yen including tax, with Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PS5, and PS4 versions planned for a later date. The game is the debut work of France-based developer Banana Blitz.

Publisher 2P Games announced it will exhibit for the first time at gamescom 2026, running August 26 to 30 in Cologne, Germany. The booth, Hall 10.1 | B078 C079, will feature playable versions of released hits including Sultan's Game and Girls and Academy Castle, plus a lineup of upcoming titles like the daughter-raising sim How to Raise a Beloved Daughter in Immortal Village.

AtoJ Inc. will exhibit at the ICC KYOTO 2026 "Guardian Award" on September 1 and 2, 2026. The company, which develops an online dispute resolution (ODR) service, received SILVER (2nd place) at the previous "ICC FUKUOKA 2026 Startup Catapult." At the venue, AtoJ will offer a booth called "Mediation Thinking," where visitors can experience simulated mediation for non-payment disputes.

Mebius announced that the Switch package "Monochrome Echoes White & Black W Pack," bundling both White Edition and Black Edition, launches January 21, 2027. The regular edition costs 5,500 yen, the limited edition 11,000 yen, with pre-orders open at game shops, mass retailers, and EC sites. A limited edition bundles the Monochrome Echoes TRPG rulebook.

Sunny Side Up will release Happy Kuji 'Sanrio characters PUNKS Party ~ Halloween 2026 ~' at Lawson, FamilyMart, Lawson Store 100, bookstores, and hobby shops starting September 18, 2026. The no-loser lottery features 10 Sanrio characters in punk rock outfits with black-based designs: Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Little Twin Stars, Pochacco, Hangyodon, Pekkle the Duck, and Tuxedo Sam. Prizes include figures with silver chains and studs, plush charms, chain pouches, pin charms, bandanas, standing mirrors, rubber coin cases, can badge sets, acrylic keychains, and sticker sets with mini files. Japanese sexual wellness brand TENGA has launched its collaboration with the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime franchise. The line includes a Special Collaboration TENGA Cup and a Special Collaboration TENGA Tissue Case, both of which debuted at Anime Expo last month. The cup is priced at US$13.99 and the tissue case at US$34.99, with a bundle available for US$48.98. All items are on the TENGA web store.

TENGA released two collaboration items with the anime New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT on August 20 in Japan and the United States. The items are a TENGA CUP based on the standard Vacuum Cup and a TENGA TISSUE CASE, both featuring artwork inspired by the anime. They were previously sold at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 2 and now get a general release.

Sega updated PSO2 New Genesis ver.2 on August 19, 2026, adding the limited-time quest "Beach Wars '26" set in a summer-themed West Aelio. Up to 12 players can participate, with trials that may change over upon clear and spawn the enemy Luino Anga. The update also adds a new special ability, refreshed seasonal exchange items, and two revival AC Scratch lines running until September 2.
