Celeste Co-Developer Noel Berry Reveals New Action Game City of None
Noel Berry, co-developer of the acclaimed platformer Celeste, and his brother Liam Berry have unveiled their next project: City of None, a 2D exploration-focused action platformer. The game was shown in a playable demo at BitSummit PUNCH, a major indie game festival held in Kyoto from May 22 to 24, 2026. In City of None, players control a wooden doll inhabited by collected souls, navigating a decaying underground city. The demo featured platforming and puzzle-solving with a sword weapon, but no direct combat against enemies. Berry told Game Spark that the game prioritizes exploration and atmosphere over the pure platforming of Celeste, though it retains precise movement controls. The title was nominated for the Vermillion Gate Award's grand prize at the festival. City of None is scheduled for a 2027 release on PC via Steam.
