Dark Horse Comics has voluntarily recognized Dark Horse Workers United, the union formed by its employees and affiliated with the Communications Workers of America. The publisher is also releasing a slate of manga, comics, and PVC figures across late 2026 and 2027.
Coverage of Dark Horse in 2026 begins with labor. Employees at Dark Horse Comics and its retail chain Things From Another World formed Dark Horse Workers United, affiliated with the Communications Workers of America, and asked for voluntary recognition by June 3. The union cited recent layoffs, a wage and hiring freeze, leadership changes, and return-to-office policies as reasons for organizing. On June 4, Dark Horse voluntarily recognized the union. The company's interim CEO said the recognition is an unusual step meant to signal a new approach to labor relations.
On the publishing side, Dark Horse Manga announced four licenses during its Anime Expo panel on Friday: Kenji Tsuruta's The Sky is but One Roof of the World and Gou Tanabe's H.P. Lovecraft's The Haunter of the Dark, along with deluxe editions of Gantz and Yoshitaka Amano's Deva Zan. All four are scheduled for spring 2027 and are available for pre-order now. In August, at Anime NYC, Dark Horse Manga announced two Vampire Hunter D graphic novels. The Fortress of Blood comic debuts December 16, and the English translation of Saiko Takaki's Rose Princess manga arrives in March 2027.
Dark Horse also unveiled PVC figures of David, Lucy, Rebecca, and Adam Smasher from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. They are slated for release between March and May 2027, with pre-orders on the Dark Horse Direct website. Adam Smasher will retail for US$79.99 and the other three for US$69.99 each. At its New York Comic Con 2026 panel, Dark Horse announced Gou Tanabe's The Outsider and Other Early Adaptations, translated by Zack Davisson, gathering Tanabe's take on H.P. Lovecraft's The Outsider plus Ju-Ga and adaptations of Anton Chekhov's The House with a Mezzanine and Maxim Gorky's 26 Men and a Girl. It also announced Martial War, a graphic novel co-created by Hiroyuki Takei, Will Carter, and Aidan White, and the comic Blue Eye Samurai: Cry of the Yurei.
