The Digimon franchise announced on Saturday that a brand-new television anime is in production and scheduled to premiere in 2027. The project is part of the franchise's 30th anniversary celebration, which marks the 1997 debut of the original Digital Monster virtual pet. Toei Animation has not yet revealed a title, staff, story details, or character lineup for the new series. The announcement was made through the franchise's official channels and comes as the current series, DIGIMON BEATBREAK, enters its final story arc. The new anime will follow DIGIMON BEATBREAK, which premiered on Fuji TV and other channels on October 5 and is currently airing in Japan, with Crunchyroll streaming both the subtitled and English dubbed versions. As part of the anniversary celebration, Fuji TV will begin airing fan-voted favorite episodes from the first four Digimon anime series on October 4 at 9:00 a.m. JST. The retrospective, titled "Our Choice: Best Adventure," includes episodes from Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, and Digimon Frontier. The first Digimon Adventure anime premiered in 1999, and the franchise has since expanded into manga, trading cards, video games, and feature films.

The Digimon Beatbreak anime will begin its Kyō Arc on July 12, starting with episode 38. The arc introduces a new character, Sōji Kuroshio, voiced by Shinichirō Miki, a former member of the Five Elements Star who has lost all emotion and is obsessed with Kyo Sawashiro. A new visual was also revealed.

Game Spark and Inside have published their weekly roundups of new game releases for the week of July 6, 2026, covering both the Japanese and North American markets. Bandai announced Digimon Pendulum COLOR 8 CELESTIALWALKER and 9 ASTRALSENTINEL, plus a second wave of Iremon Pendulum cases, on June 26, 2026. The new Pendulum COLOR toys feature Digimon from the Ilias Digital World, including the Olympian Twelve and Plutomon, and are compatible with recent color Digimon devices. Preorders open on Premium Bandai at 6:10 PM JST.

Bandai Namco Entertainment released a playable demo for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions of Digimon Story Time Stranger on June 10. The demo covers the beginning of the main game, and save data created in it can be transferred to the full version. It also includes a separate mode called the Central Town Adventure Trial, which lets players explore the hub of the Digital World Ilias and some dungeons, though data from that mode cannot be carried over. The Switch and Switch 2 versions are scheduled for release on July 10 (July 9 in Japan). The Switch 2 version offers improved graphics and both performance and quality modes. The game originally launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in October 2025. A trailer narrated by the Digimon ambassador Terriermon Assistant accompanied the demo's release, explaining the game's world, battle system, and collection mechanics. The demo is available now on the Nintendo eShop.

MegaHouse is reprinting its G.E.M. Series Greymon & Taichi Yagami figure from Digimon Adventure. Pre-orders open June 5, 2026, at Premium Bandai, Toei Animation Official Store, and AmiAmi. The painted PVC figure stands approximately 250mm tall and is priced at 17,600 yen. Release is scheduled for November 2026.
