Dorohedoro director Yuichiro Hayashi says he always planned to start season two soon after the first wrapped, but MAPPA had already committed to Attack on Titan: The Final Season, which pushed the timetable back. The studio began early development on character designs and visual elements in parallel with Attack on Titan's final arc over two years, and animators from that series supported the core Dorohedoro team, which stayed largely unchanged from season one.

MAPPA released a teaser trailer for the third season of the Dorohedoro anime during its 15th anniversary lineup livestream on June 19. The teaser opens with footage transitioning from the final scene of Season 2, episode 11, into a scene at a Chinese restaurant, where character Aikawa searches for "something interesting." Storyboard footage hinting at the start of Season 3 production is shown. The second season of Dorohedoro premiered on April 1, 2026, and streamed through May 27, 2026, on platforms including Crunchyroll and Netflix. Season 1 debuted on Netflix in Japan in January 2020 and later streamed worldwide. The anime adapts Q Hayashida's manga, which ran from 2000 to 2018 across multiple magazines and was compiled into 23 volumes. Viz Media publishes the English edition. Alongside the trailer, a "Best Pair Grand Prize 2026" voting campaign opened, running from June 19 to July 2. The winning character pair will receive an illustration by Hayashida.

Re:ZERO Season 4 has now won five of the first eight weekly polls, extending its lead as the season enters its final weeks. The series began on April 8 and previously ranked first in Weeks 1, 2, 3, and 6. The season consists of 19 episodes split into two arcs: the 11-episode Loss Arc starting April 8 and the 8-episode Recapture Arc beginning August 12, with a two-month break in between. Anime News Network also noted that Dorohedoro and One Piece kept Witch Hat Atelier just shy of first place in their own rankings.

TOHO has announced a third season of the Dorohedoro anime, following the finale of the second season on May 27.
