The second cast reveal PV for the original TV anime Kaze wo Tsugu Mono has been released, debuting character voices for five newly announced cast members: Ryohei Kimura as Shinshichi Nagakura, Ayumu Murase as Heisuke Todo, Shinba Tsuchiya as Sanosuke Harada, Takeo Otsuka as Keisuke Yamanami, and Yasuyuki Kase as Kamo Serizawa. The series, directed by Tomohiro Kawamura with scripts by Yutaka Nari and music by Shigeru Kishida, is produced by Aniplex, Live2D, and Drive.

Nalua Studio announced Gley Lancer: Overdrive, a Neo Geo remake of the 1992 Mega Drive shooter Gley Lancer, on September 10, 2026. The rebuilt version redraws all graphics, adds a new 8-direction Overdrive system and modes including Score Attack, Boss Rush, Time Attack and Stage Select. It is scheduled for 2027 on Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo MVS, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

UpLand Inc. and its parent company MBS Innovation Drive Inc. launched the VTuber project Tobari-ku on September 9, 2026. The companies opened an official teaser site, an official X account, and an official YouTube channel the same day. A separate site, the Kaii Diagnosis Site, also appeared alongside the project, though its contents have not been disclosed. MBS Innovation Drive welcomed UpLand, which operates the VTuber agencies .LIVE and VuiPai, into its group in 2023, and the two companies have since worked to expand their business areas in content and reach new fan bases. Tobari-ku comes out of those efforts. Full details about the project are scheduled for the night of September 24, 2026, and the companies are directing people to follow the X account and YouTube channel ahead of the reveal.

Double Fine Productions announced Thank You Bus Driver on September 5. The PC driving game casts the player as a bus driver who enforces daily changing passenger rules, from no phone calls to no farting. Violators are slapped or thrown out. The studio's new label Double Fine Action Labs releases it as its first work.

The Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) announced on September 2 that it has begun development of DRIVE CARD GAME, a trading card game themed around automobiles, with release planned for early summer 2027. The game is being developed with the cooperation of various automobile manufacturers, crossing manufacturer boundaries to convey the appeal of cars to a wide range of generations, including younger people, and to create new car fans. Players will collect and battle with cards that reflect the characteristics of various cars, learning about them through play. Rule design and adjustment of card effects and stats are handled by Next Play Inc., the developer behind ONE PIECE CARD GAME; its representative, Ryo Shinomoto, confirmed cooperation on his own X account. JAF plans to use profits from the game for social contribution activities, such as disaster support by the JAF Road Service Special Support Team. Game rules, card information, and sales methods will be announced later on the official website and official X account. The game name and logo mark are currently pending trademark registration.

THE SPELLBOUND × BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, the unit of Masayuki Nakano and Yusuke Kobayashi, released 'Brand New Drive' digitally on September 2. It is the first new song under the BOOM BOOM SATELLITES name in about 10 years, since 'LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME' in 2016. The same night the pair perform it in a one-take on THE FIRST TAKE. The song debuted at a free live in Shinjuku on August 24 before about 3,000 people.

At gamescom 2026, Ocean Drive Studio showed a playable demo of God Save Birmingham, a zombie survival game set in 14th-century Birmingham. The demo emphasizes physics-based combat, life simulation elements, and co-op play. An early access release is planned soon, with Japanese support not yet confirmed.

Developer Yayoi Development, operating under the name YAYOI KAIHATSU, opened the Steam store page for its interactive road movie adventure "DRIVE IN THE RAIN" on August 24, 2026. The game is planned for release on PC via Steam in 2027. Set on a rainy nighttime highway, the horror-flavored adventure follows a debt-ridden protagonist who takes a suspicious part-time job described as "support for modern spiritual disturbance resolution; driver wanted." The player drives an old sedan along a single road of about 100 kilometers, with no risk of getting lost but with hazards including wet roads, surrounding vehicles, and road construction. The car carries a mysterious woman and a haggard girl subjected to baseless rumors and online harassment. As social media malice spreads, supernatural phenomena occur. A central mechanic links driving behavior to in-game consequences: speeding, changing lanes without signaling, or occupying the passing lane draws viewer backlash in an in-car livestream, causing hallucinations and pressure. Players may drive safely or deliberately dangerously to attract attention and take on harm aimed at the girl. The game also features detailed driving controls, including gear changes for reversing and turn signal use for lane changes, plus a simple operation mode for less confident players.

Headup announced that Creactstudios' car builder and racing game Screw Drivers will officially release and become paid on August 20 local time. The early access title, rated 'very positive' from 6,448 reviews, will cost 7.99 euros. The update adds a track editor, workshop browser, blueprints, and controller support.

At Disney's D23 event, Marvel Studios announced the MCU's new X-Men film will release on May 5, 2028. The cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Indi Navarrette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will appear as Nathaniel Milbury, expected to play the villain Mr. Sinister. Jake Schreier directs.

BeamNG released version 0.39 of BeamNG.drive, the largest update to date for the realistic driving game. The update includes major graphical overhauls, a complete UI redesign, new vehicles, and quality-of-life improvements. The game remains in Early Access on Steam, with a PS5 version announced for 2026.

XXIV will release the top-down mecha action shooter VOID ARMOR: FORM DRIVE on Steam on November 6, 2026, for 790 yen. Players control the test unit ARORA, switching between melee, two ranged weapons, and defense. Missions are ranked by clear time, damage, and accuracy. A demo is available now, with a beta test underway.

BeamNG.drive version 0.39, released July 30, includes a major graphics overhaul that replaces the conventional ACES tone mapper with tone mapping technology from Gran Turismo 7. Polyphony Digital presented the technique at SIGGRAPH 2025 and released C++ sample code under the MIT license. The update also adds HDR support for Vulkan and Direct3D 12, a UI overhaul, and a revamped photo mode.

Oneiric Worlds announced Yashi - Sand Driver on July 28. The road trip survival game follows protagonist Yashi and his coyote companion as they drive a van across a desert wilderness toward a mysterious paradise called New Eden. Players manage supplies, craft tools, and upgrade the van. The game targets a 2027 release on PC via Steam and itch.io.

Shinise Games announced Derby Heroine! ~Run, Bet, Win!~, a betting action race game coming to Steam on August 6, 2026 for 1,980 yen. Players bet on track girls using horse racing-style odds, then control them in races with special moves and slipstream mechanics. A gacha system with over 100 characters uses only in-game currency, with a Switch version planned for later in 2026.

ANYCOLOR announced the pre-sale of merchandise for NIJISANJI unit MECHATU-A's first live show, "Over Drive!," will begin June 19 at 19:00 JST on the NIJISANJI Official Store. The lineup includes 14 items such as penlights, ring lights, acrylic stands, and apparel. The live takes place October 10 at K-Arena Yokohama.

Good Smile Company is releasing a plastic model kit of Tauburn from the 2010 anime Star Driver: The Radiant Takuto. The kit is the first plastic model of the Cybody and is being produced under the full supervision of its original designer, Shigeto Koyama. Further details are pending from the official account.

Indie developer BeamNG announced a PS5 version of the driving simulation game BeamNG.drive, known for its realistic soft-body physics and vehicle deformation. The console port is scheduled for release within 2026 and will include 12 open-world maps, over 1,000 vehicle types, and various game modes. A trailer and a Japanese PS Store page have been released.

Third-party firmware called OmniDrive, based on the MediaTek MT1959 chipset and developed for Hitachi-LG Data Storage Blu-ray drives, enables the drives to read and rip game discs from older consoles including GameCube, Wii, original Xbox, and Xbox 360. The firmware improves read accuracy and supports CD, DVD, Blu-ray, and derivative media. A tutorial from the YouTube channel Archades Games demonstrates the process, and tests showed perfect ISO rips of Xbox 360 games. The firmware is not compatible with all drives and can brick incompatible hardware.
