The US White House removed its Tetris-style game BUILD THE WALL from its ARCADE.GOV game site by September 9, roughly five days after the site launched. No announcement accompanied the removal. The Tetris Company, rights holder for Tetris, had stated it was not involved in the game's creation and takes copyright infringement seriously. Whether legal action prompted the removal remains unclear.
NIS America announced that Yomawari: The Long Night Collection and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark will launch for PlayStation 5 in the west on November 5. The Long Night Collection bundles Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, which reached North America and Europe as a Switch release in October 2018. Lost in the Dark, which debuted in 2022, reached PS5 in Japan on May 14, 2026, and now follows that version west.
NEKCOM Entertainment brought a playable demo of Showa American Story to gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, giving attendees their first hands-on look at the action game set in an alternate late-1980s America that Japan colonized. Denfaminicogamer reporter Soma Umi tested the demo, which offered four elements: combat, town exploration, a camper van, and a boss fight. Players control protagonist Choko Chigusa, voiced by Yoko Hikasa, who battles a gang called the Brave Corps in NEO YOKOHAMA using chained weak and strong attacks, firearms with limited ammo, and weapon-specific finishers that include repeatedly stomping downed enemies. The demo included a boss fight against Akitora Mutsuki, a ninja voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa, who attacks with shuriken, a sword, and fire, revives into a new phase after his health is depleted, and can trigger a cutscene where a sword stabs into Choko's stomach before exploding. The reporter could not defeat Mutsuki before time ran out. Showa American Story, published by 4Divinity, is scheduled for release on PC and PS5 in 2026.
Showa American Story creative director XY.Luo commented after gamescom 2026, where the RPG was playable. 4,572 people tried the demo. Luo called the showing "the beginning of finally truly meeting players" and said he read every reaction. The game, delayed from 2025 to 2026, is set in a Japan-ruled Showa 66 America and launches 2026 on PS5 and Windows.

Creepy Nuts, the two-member hip-hop unit of R-Shitei and DJ Matsunaga, will release their first live documentary film on November 20. Titled "Creepy Nuts - North America Tour: LIVE in NY & Documentary Film," the movie documents the group's recent overseas push, including their April 2026 performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and their first solo live show in New York. The documentary also covers the rest of their first North America tour, which visited Chicago and Mexico. Hiroya Brian Nakano, who has long handled Creepy Nuts' photography and video work, directs. The film is not a live viewing release but a standalone documentary reconstructing a series of overseas activities into a single work. The announcement follows a period of rapid growth for the duo, whose 2024 single "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" surpassed 900 million cumulative global streams. In 2025 they played Tokyo Dome and toured five Asian cities. After the North America tour, they are scheduled to join The Weeknd's Asia tour from September, and they will start a domestic arena tour in February 2027.
Bandai Namco Amusement America and hololive English -Justice- will launch the POP-UP STORE -City Groove in September 2026. The limited-time event visits five US cities through March 2027, offering exclusive merchandise, a mini game, and photo opportunities. Manga Mavericks Books, the publishing division of the Manga Mavericks website and podcast, announced on Monday that it has appointed Erica Friedman as its Managing Editor. Friedman will help the company through its upcoming year, during which it plans to release over 40 alternative, shojo, josei, LGBTQ+, and classic manga titles. Friedman is a longtime yuri commentator who has written for Anime News Network, Forbes, Slate, and other outlets. She authored "By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Anime and Manga" and contributed to DK's "Manga: A Visual History." She has lectured at universities and film festivals, including MIT, Harvard, and the San Francisco Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Friedman holds a Master's Degree in Library Science and a B.A. in Comparative Literature. She founded Yuricon and ALC Publishing. Manga Mavericks Books was established in April 2025 to license, localize, and distribute works from indie creators in Japan. The division entered distribution deals with Pathway Book Service and Gazelle Book Services Ltd for Europe in February.
4Divinity, the publishing arm of GCL Global Holdings, announced on August 13, 2026, that it will exhibit six titles at gamescom 2026, held from August 26 to 30 in Cologne, Germany. This marks the company's first participation in the event, which it calls its boldest move yet into Western markets. The lineup includes The Defiant, an AAA World War II FPS by Hoothanes; Showa American Story, a retro pop culture RPG by NEKCOM; Guns of Eschaton, an occult Western Souls-like FPS by Eschatology Entertainment; A Whisper of Fall: Jin Yi Wei, a Ming Dynasty ARPG by CangMo Game Entertainment; Taigu de Shen: Nezha, an action RPG based on Chinese mythology by Genigods Lab; and Sword Sage: Awakening, an action RPG by Sword Panda Limited. The six titles have collectively amassed over 2 million wishlists and 280 million views of related content. Showa American Story receives its first major update since its delay to November 2025. The company plans five world-premiere trailers and over 180 meetings with media, creators, and partners.
NIS America announced it will release Nippon Ichi Software's Village in the Shade on October 27 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. SCS Software revealed the Atlas feature for American Truck Simulator's upcoming Road Trip update. NIS America announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on September 10. A special video for the psycho-horror film 'Erica' has been released, featuring new footage of the unsettling relationship between Tatsuki and Erica. The film, a self-remake of director Taro Miyaoka's 2008 independent film 'Rensa', opened May 15 and has been selected for multiple film festivals. Miyaoka won Best Director at the 4th Yokohama International Film Festival.
