Fate/Grand Order closed its second main story part in December 2025 and opened a new chapter, '??? Arc: Nostalgic Eternal Revolving Record - Past Chaldea,' on June 3, 2026. The chapter revisits the France singularity from Part 1 with new context and introduces a 5-star Archer with a hidden true name. A prologue, 'Beginning of After Time,' had run in January, and the first limited-time event after Part 2, 'Waiting for You at the End of Spring,' began July 1 with a scenario by Makoto Sanda. That event offered a free 4-star welfare servant, Gray Lily, in either Saber or Lancer form, a choice that split a small survey of Masters exactly 50-50.
The 11th anniversary festival, FGO Fes. 2026 Chaldea Academy Festival, took place August 1-2 at Makuhari Messe under a school festival theme. The event revealed the full 60-card 'Eirei Gakusou' Craft Essence set, a new Musashi illustration, and a main visual with 12 Servants in school outfits. The development director said he had feared players would leave after Part 2, but the turnout confirmed the franchise continues. A separate exhibition, 'Fate/Grand Order Exhibition -Stargazing Corridor-,' opened July 17 at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo, covering 11 years of development materials and revealing 14 new Servant illustrations.
On the technical side, the game migrated to Unity 6 in mid-June, requiring a roughly 16GB redownload for players who had completed bulk download. Merchandising remains active: Good Smile Company opened reservations for a 33cm POP UP PARADE SP King Hassan figure, Max Factory announced a PLAMATEA kit of Mash Kyrielight, and Bandai Spirits scheduled an Ichiban Kuji for October 31 with 1/7 scale figures of Mash and Olga Marie. Maaya Sakamoto released a best album of her six Fate/Grand Order theme songs on July 29, and her lyrics for 'Shikisai' directly influenced the ending of Part 2, according to her interview.

Anime Feminist published a long-form analysis on March 4, 2026, examining the history and narrative function of genderbent characters in the Fate franchise, from its first installment Fate/stay night (2004) through Fate/Grand Order (2015-present). The piece argues that the series' practice of reimagining historical male figures as women is not merely a marketing ploy but frequently serves character development and thematic exploration of identity, personhood, and the cost of surrendering oneself to an ideal. The analysis focuses on King Arthur, the franchise's first genderbent character, whose identity as a woman is central to her arc and her relationship with protagonist Shirou Emiya. The article also examines later characters like Mordred, Nero Claudius, and Okita Souji as self-referential iterations on the original Saber design, and discusses how the series uses its genderbending framework to spotlight lesser-known historical women, such as Katsushika Ōi and Tokimura Michi. It notes that Fate's approach to gender has become less binary over time, with explicitly nonbinary characters like Chevalier d'Eon, Qin Shi Huang, and Romulus appearing in Fate/Grand Order. The piece acknowledges that not all of the franchise's gender experiments are tasteful, sometimes veering into fetishism, but concludes that the series shows a consistent, decades-long interest in exploring gender and identity.
