Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent Adds Final Fantasy X Characters

Square Enix announced a collaboration event between the mobile RPG "Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent" and "Final Fantasy X," running from June 18 to August 13. The event brings Tidus, Yuna, and Auron as playable 5-star characters, with job classes set to Thief, Cleric, and Warrior respectively. Players can obtain one of the three characters guaranteed through a free "Seal Box" distributed at the Web Ruby Shop. The event story, supervised by Motomu Toriyama with character supervision by Tetsuya Nomura, unfolds in three parts. Collaboration weapons including Ultima Weapon, Nirvana, and Masamune are obtainable by defeating specific enemies in the "Record of Archfiends" mode. A Cactuar companion is available as an event reward, and a quiz campaign during the collaboration livestream will grant all players 800 Rubies. The collaboration coincides with campaigns celebrating 20 million downloads of the mobile title.

PS Plus June Game Catalog Adds Final Fantasy Xvi, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and 5 More

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced seven titles joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers in June 2026. The lineup includes Final Fantasy XVI, Sonic x Shadow Generations, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Farming Simulator 25, Blades of Fire, and Black Desert: Standard Edition. Premium subscribers also get the PS2 classic Gitaroo Man.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Switch 2 Version Launches July 23

Square Enix announced on June 9 that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will release digitally on July 23, 2026, with a physical version following on August 27. Pre-orders opened the same day. The package combines Final Fantasy X, originally released in 2001, and its direct sequel Final Fantasy X-2 in a single HD remaster. The digital edition costs 6,688 yen, and the physical edition costs 7,480 yen, both including tax. The physical version includes a limited-time special sleeve case featuring the FFX 25th Anniversary Logo art, designed by Tetsuya Nomura. The game includes Game Boost Functions that let players adjust game speed, character stats, and encounter rates. Store-specific pre-order bonuses include digital wallpapers from the Square Enix e-STORE and original stickers from Amazon.co.jp. The original Final Fantasy X marked its 25th anniversary on July 19, 2026, and the Switch 2 release coincides with that milestone.

Good Smile Fest 2026 Reveals Nendoroid Lineup Including K-On!, Fate, and Yu-Gi-Oh!

Good Smile Company streamed its 'Nendoroid FUNS Good Smile Fest 2026' on June 4, 2026, unveiling a wide range of new Nendoroid figures. The event showcased colored samples and prototypes for numerous upcoming releases. Highlights included a 2.0 version of Mio Akiyama from 'K-On!', Saber in casual wear from 'Fate/stay night', and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon from 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'. Vocaloid characters such as Neru Akita and Haku Yowane also received new Nendoroid forms. Newly announced figures span multiple franchises: from 'Final Fantasy XIV', characters Alphinaud, Yotsuyu, and Emet-Selch were confirmed; from 'Goddess of Victory: NIKKE', Velvet; and from 'Danganronpa 1·2 Reload', Celestia Ludenberg. The 'Super Kaguya-hime!' series added Kaguya, Sakayori Iroha, and Tsukimi Yachiyo. Final Fantasy XIV Player Soloes 'Unbeatable' Trial by Playing Two Characters at Once

A player named Rath Games has soloed the Warrior of Light Trial in Final Fantasy XIV, a boss fight designed for eight players that includes an instant-kill mechanic requiring a full party's limit break to survive. Rath Games controlled two characters simultaneously, using a Blue Mage and a Sage, and exploited post-revival invulnerability to bypass the fatal attack.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Patch 7.51 Adds Ultimate Raid, Custom Delivery, and New Star

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail patch 7.51, subtitled The Path to the Beyond, on June 2. The update introduces the seventh ultimate raid, The Minstrel's Ballad: The Final Day, which focuses on the boss Kefka. It also adds a new custom delivery target, Chisoya, and a new star, Plant Civilization Star Auxesia, for Cosmo Explorer.
