Seven-member virtual idol group FouRTe Project released its 8th single, 'HIGH⤴Yusho,' on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, under the JOI MUSIC label. Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on August 5 that it will exhibit five titles at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21. The main booth in Hall 5 will feature playable demos for 'ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE', 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3', 'One Piece: Sea of Delights Restaurant', and 'Bleach Mirrors High'. 'Tales of Eternia Remaster' will be present but only with a reservation campaign, no demo. 'ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE' is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It is the first in the series to feature a first-person perspective in its drama parts, and this will be its first exhibition at a domestic game event. Public days from September 19 to 21 will require a numbered ticket for the demo, distributed at the booth. Demo participants receive an original sticker. The Family Game Park at TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall will offer demos of 'Once Upon a Katamari' and 'Tamagotchi Petit Petit Store: Welcome! Nintendo Switch 2 Edition'. DMM Pictures announced on Thursday that Mitsuki Mii's manga "Kusunoki's Flunking Her High School Glow-Up" is receiving a television anime adaptation. The series will star Yūto Uemura as Keisuke Shizuki and Tomori Kusunoki as Shizuka Kusunoki. Midori Yui, who has served as an episode director on series including "Carole & Tuesday" and "Love Flops," is directing the anime at studios Passione and Hayabusa Film. Yui is also handling the series composition. Koji Haneda, known for character design on "Spice & Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf," is the character designer. Hyadain, the composer for all seasons of "Rent-A-Girlfriend," is composing the music. Suzune Ishikawa is the animation producer. The original manga launched on Ichijinsha's Comic POOL service in October 2022 and has seven volumes in circulation. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English. The story follows two high school students, Keisuke Shizuki and Shizuka Kusunoki, who were both social outcasts in middle school and are now navigating their new lives. Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed three new squad members designed by original creator Tite Kubo for the upcoming smartphone game BLEACH Mirrors High. The characters are Naru Jurina, Giro Hando, and Maiko Tokishima. The game is set after the Thousand-Year Blood War arc and features an original story with newly drawn stills. A system trailer has also been released, showing customization options for the protagonist's appearance and name, as well as Zanpakuto customization. The battle system uses a team of three characters and card-based attacks, including a three-character combination move called Soul Drive. BLEACH Mirrors High is scheduled for release on the App Store and Google Play. The final TV anime cour, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity Arc, begins airing on July 25, 2026.

Bandai Namco Entertainment released an overview trailer for the upcoming mobile game Bleach Mirrors High on July 18, revealing three new characters designed by series creator Tite Kubo. The characters are Naru Jurinna, voiced by Fuka Izumi; Giro Hando, voiced by Shogo Batori; and Maiko Tokishima, voiced by Yu Sasahara. The trailer shows card-based battles, avatar and Zanpakuto customization, and a cooperative move called Soul Drive. The game is set after the Thousand-Year Blood War arc and follows an original story where players become a Soul Reaper protagonist. A closed beta test will run from July 22 to 29. The game is scheduled for release on iOS and Android via App Store and Google Play.

Muse Molds is producing 1/6 scale figures of Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima from High School DxD HERO, both in original cheerleader costumes. Haruame Urame, affiliated with Aogiri High School, will hold her second one-man solo live 'NoEntry' on November 11 at CLUB CITTA'. The announcement was made during a July 11 stream. Refugium Games announced on July 12 that Agefield High: Rock the School will release on August 12, 2026 local time (August 13 Japan time) on PC via Steam. The open-world action-adventure game is set in an early 2000s American town. Players take the role of transfer student Sam, who has three months until graduation. He can attend classes, skip them, fight, and earn money through side missions to buy items like motorcycles and clothes. The game features 32 main missions and 15 side missions, with an estimated 8-10 hours of playtime and two endings. Developer Refugium Games, known for horror titles, shifts to a comedic style. The game is described as combining elements of GTA, Bully, and American Pie. Console versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are planned for later in the year.

Bandai Namco Entertainment unveiled a new trailer for the smartphone game Bleach Mirrors High at Anime Expo 2026 on July 4. The trailer introduces two original player characters, Shirin Migishima and Shirane Sanari, both designed by Bleach creator Tite Kubo. Players will choose one of the two and experience a story set after the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. The trailer also shows the characters in action and includes their voices, though the voice cast has not yet been announced. Alongside the trailer, Bandai Namco opened recruitment for a closed beta test. Applications run until July 13, with approximately 20,000 participants selected. The closed beta test is scheduled from July 22 to 29 according to one source, or July 23 to 30 according to another; data will not carry over to the full release. The game is an action title for iOS and Android, described as a Gotei 13 Experience Action game. Kubo is credited with production cooperation, character concept, and character design. Cast information for the two protagonists is expected at a later date.

The final chapter of the HiGH&LOW film series, "HiGH&LOW THE New World," was announced on June 24 at a 10th anniversary event in Tokyo. HIRO, the series' planner and producer, surprised attendees with a teaser video and confirmed the film will release in 2027. The story takes place several years after the 2017 film "HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE 3 / FINAL MISSION." MAPPA announced on June 19 during its 15th anniversary lineup presentation that it will produce an anime adaptation of the manga "Local Is Best!" ("Jimoto ga Saikō!") by usagi. The series will stream exclusively worldwide on Netflix. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and a teaser promotional video were released. The PV uses the song "milk" by singer-songwriter aiko, who is a fan of the original work. The manga, originally serialized on social media, is known for its cute art style contrasted with a story that has been described as a stew of all the world's evils. It follows girls who have never left their hometown and insist "Local is best!" no matter what misfortunes befall them. The director is Toshio Igarashi, the script is by Ryo Takada, and character design is by Rio. The original creator usagi commented on the announcement, expressing gratitude that the manga could be adapted into an anime, and noted that during serialization, when the creator went bankrupt, the editor lent 1 million yen out of pocket. aiko also shared her joy about the adaptation and the PV.

Good Smile Company announced on Friday that illustrator neco's Heavily Armed High School Girls project is receiving a television anime adaptation, scheduled to air in 2027. Masaki Tachibana, known for directing Princess Principal and an episode of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, is directing the series. Natsuko Takahashi, whose credits include Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and Yuyushiki, is handling series composition. Good Smile Film and Good Smile Company are jointly producing the anime. The project, which began as a series of illustrations themed around armed high school girls, has previously expanded into multiple figure releases. To mark the announcement, neco released a new key visual and a teaser promotional video, both featuring the character Ichi. In a statement, neco expressed excitement about seeing her original work adapted into an anime, noting that the project grew from a single illustration into figures and now an animated series. Tachibana said he worked closely with neco on character personalities during script development, and that voice recording sessions led to new discoveries about the characters.

The production committee for The Irregular at Magic High School anime announced on June 5 that development has begun on a second part, ending the first part's 12-year run. The franchise began with the original light novel series by Tsutomu Satou, which launched in 2008 and concluded with its 32nd volume in September 2020, followed by two sequel volumes. Subsequent entries include the Visitor Arc second season in October 2020, a third season in April 2024, and the Yotsuba Succession Arc film that premiered in Japan in May 2026. Crunchyroll has streamed the series with subtitles and an English dub. Yen Press publishes the light novels and the Honor Student spinoff manga in English.

Shogakukan's Monthly Coro Coro Comics magazine launched a new manga titled Horo-Beat on Friday, May 15. The first chapter runs 66 pages. The project brings together creators from three major franchises. Duel Masters creator Shigenobu Matsumoto is credited with the original work and handles storyboard composition. The Irregular at Magic High School light novel author Tsutomu Satou is cooperating on the scenario. Reborn! creator Akira Amano provides the original character designs. Akira Tsuruta is drawing the manga. The story is described as a "thrilling tag-team battle" manga featuring yokai and humans fighting together. It centers on Jin Narumi, a second-year middle school student who can see monsters, yokai, devils, and ghosts. He visits his friend Hinata at her temple every morning, which is overrun by these creatures. Hinata cannot see them and does not take Jin's concerns seriously. When a giant yokai attacks them, Hinata is knocked unconscious and Jin is near death. Hinata's temple cat Leo transforms into a raiju beast, and Jin teams up with Leo to defeat the yokai and save Hinata.

The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE - Yotsuba Succession Arc - debuted at #5 in its opening weekend at the Japanese box office, according to Kogyo Tsushin. The film sold about 89,000 tickets and earned 152,764,200 yen (about US$967,100) in its first three days. Jimmy Stone directed the film at studio 8-Bit, with Taku Iwasaki composing the music. Returning cast members include Yuichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba, Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Chiwa Saito as Maya Yotsuba, and Emiri Kato as Fumiya Kuroba. New cast additions include Daisuke Ono as Katsushige Shibata and Ai Kayano as Yuuka Tsukuba. LiSA performs the theme song "YES." Meanwhile, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie dropped from #1 to #2 in its third weekend, selling 341,000 tickets and earning 490,061,280 yen (about US$3.10 million). The film has sold a cumulative total of 4.31 million tickets and earned 5,945,505,120 yen (about US$37.63 million). Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi held at #3 in its fifth weekend, becoming the fourth consecutive film in the franchise to earn over 10 billion yen.
