Square Enix will release Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III] on October 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The collection bundles three packages: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind, together containing seven games, three HD video works, and the Re Mind downloadable content. The price is 11,000 yen. The physical version is available for PS5 and Switch 2 and requires an internet connection to download additional data. Each title is also sold separately as a digital version, with prices of 5,280 yen for HD 1.5+2.5 Remix and III + Re Mind, and 4,180 yen for HD 2.8. The HD 1.5+2.5 Remix is also compatible with the original Nintendo Switch. To promote the release, Square Enix published six YouTube Shorts introducing Disney and Pixar worlds such as Toy Box, Timeless River, Wonderland, Deep Space, Monstropolis, and The Caribbean. Purchase bonuses include exclusive weapons for Kingdom Hearts III: Long Night on Switch 2, Midnight Blue on PS5, and Phantom Green on Xbox and Windows. Pre-orders include 48-hour early access.

KADOKAWA's KDcolle brand is releasing a 1/6 scale figure of Chiyo from The Elder Sister-Like One, based on an original illustration by Pochi Iida for Comic Market. Pre-orders open Friday, July 17. The figure is sculpted by miya and features detachable parts for an alternate state.

A 1/7 scale completed figure of Eris Boreas Greyrat from the anime "Mushoku Tensei III: I'm Serious About the Other World" is now available for pre-order. The figure, produced by Hobby Sakura, captures Eris in a dynamic pose holding a sword and looking back. It stands approximately 250mm tall including the base, made of PVC and ABS materials. The reference price is 30,800 yen (tax included), with a scheduled release date of April 2027. Pre-orders are being accepted at AmiAmi as of July 2026. The third season of the anime began airing in July 2026. The figure's pose references a line from the character: "Sorry, but I'm not a virgin!" The product includes the figure body and a base. The figure is based on the light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote, which started on the novel submission site Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2012.

In an interview at Anime Expo 2026, Sonic lead producer Takashi Iizuka discussed the 35th anniversary, the surprise release of Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition on Switch 2, and the sales disappointment of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. The TV anime Mushoku Tensei III has released synopsis and preview cuts for Episode 4, titled "Water King-Class Mage." The episode follows Rudeus Greyrat as he continues his research driven by the resolve "I don't want to lose anyone anymore." After obtaining a new prosthetic left hand called the Zarif's Prosthetic with the help of Zanoba and Cliff, Rudeus faces the possibility that danger may again threaten his family. He decides to ask his wife Roxy Migurdia to teach him Water King-class magic, the highest tier of water magic. The preview cuts show Sylphy with a sulky expression, Roxy looking back, and Aisha covering her mouth. Mushoku Tensei III began airing on July 4, 2026, with episodes 1 and 2 as a one-hour special. The series airs every Saturday at 24:00 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other stations, with simultaneous streaming on ABEMA and d Anime Store. Season 3 adapts from Volume 13 of the original light novel by Rifujin na Magonote, which has sold over 18 million copies cumulatively. The anime adaptation marks its 5th anniversary in 2026.

Michi Iijima, the former manager of SMAP who helped build the group into a national idol phenomenon, has been appointed J-POP Executive Producer at HYBE JAPAN. She will continue her role at CULEN while working to create new entertainment originating from Japan. HYBE JAPAN cited her multi-talent model and content creation know-how as key to its Japan-specific strategy under HYBE 2.0. Iijima said she is convinced the future lies in fandom and will focus on fusing fandom with entertainment.

System Service exhibited new prize figures at the 84th Prize Fair in Tokyo on May 20, 2026, including first-time figures of Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu from Magic Knight Rayearth, a bunny polarized color version of Roxy from Mushoku Tensei II, and Rias Gremory from High School DxD HERO. Also shown were Maomao and Jinshi figures from The Apothecary Diaries in jiangshi and nine-tailed fox forms for October 2026, and shinigami-inspired versions for December 2026.

Granzella announced the PC version of R-Type Tactics I·II Cosmos will release on June 19, 2026, in Japan and June 18 in North America and Europe. The game is a remake of the fleet battle simulations R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate, originally released in 2007 and 2009. It features updated graphics, new missions, and over 150 total missions. The PC version is distributed by NIS America on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com, priced at 6,380 yen. To mark the release, Granzella published a new trailer and made public three gift passwords that grant in-game resources: Solmonadium, Aetherium, and Bydorgen. The game previously launched on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PS4 in March 2026. A soundtrack for the game will appear on music streaming services starting June 19, with 32 tracks priced at 1,500 to 1,528 yen for the full album.

Square Enix announced during the June 9 Nintendo Direct that Kingdom Hearts IV will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside previously announced PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions. The company did not provide a release date but released a new trailer showing protagonist Sora fighting in Quadratum, a world resembling modern Tokyo. The trailer marks the first significant update on the game since its initial reveal in April 2022. Square Enix also announced the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III], bundling Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind, for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The collection and its individual titles will launch on October 8. Players who owned the cloud versions of the games on Nintendo Switch can transfer their save data and receive a discounted upgrade price.

The second season of the TV anime adaptation of Carlo Zen's military fantasy novel, Saga of Tanya the Evil II, will begin airing on July 8, 2026. Broadcasting starts on AT-X at 21:30, followed by TOKYO MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, and TV Aichi. Streaming will be available ahead of terrestrial broadcast on ABEMA and d Anime Store starting July 8, with other platforms following from July 11. The opening theme is MYTH & ROID's "Why? RED induction," continuing their role from the first season. The ending theme is "Weiter! Weiter!" performed by Tanya Degurechaff (voiced by Aoi Yuki), with sound production by Masayuki Nakano. A mini-anime, Youjo Shenki 2, will air after each main episode on AT-X and stream on YouTube. The season is set in autumn of unified calendar year 1926, with Lieutenant Colonel Tanya commanding the newly formed Salamander Combat Group. The cast includes Aoi Yuki, Saori Hayami, Shinichiro Miki, and others. Animation production is by NUT.

Square Enix announced on May 27 that the combined worldwide shipments and digital sales of the HD-2D versions of Dragon Quest III: And Into the Legend... and Dragon Quest I & II have surpassed 4 million units. The company shared the milestone via the official Dragon Quest PR X account. Dragon Quest III: And Into the Legend..., an HD-2D remake of the 1988 Famicom original, launched on November 14, 2024. It uses the HD-2D graphic style that blends pixel art with 3DCG and adds new content such as the Monster Wrangler class and extra episodes about the hero's father, Ortega. Dragon Quest I & II, a combined remake of the 1986 and 1987 titles, followed on October 30, 2025. Both games are available on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam. To mark the sales milestone, Square Enix is running a sale with 50% off the HD-2D version of Dragon Quest III and 30% off Dragon Quest I & II. The company also scheduled a YouTube premiere titled "Announcement from Dragon Quest" for 10:00 PM JST on May 27, promising new information about the series.
