Into the Fire Opens Second Playtest With New Trailer
Starward Industries started the second open playtest for Into the Fire on September 1, 2026, and released a new trailer for the game. Into the Fire is a single-player extraction survival title set in a city collapsing under a volcanic eruption. Players rescue survivors while managing limited resources, carving escape routes through ash and lava. The game features shotgun-like tools that discharge fire extinguishing agent, hovercraft-like vehicles that move at high speed on volcanic ash, and a retro-futuristic design. Lava and fire alter the terrain, so places the player just visited can change in an instant. Players must manage their water supply, watch rising temperatures, and decide whether to push deeper to save more lives or retreat before getting trapped. The HUB base develops according to how many survivors the player brings back, unlocking new equipment, missions, and systems. The playtest runs until September 7 local time and coincides with the PvE survival craft festival on Steam. Early access on Steam is planned for 2026.
