Dragon Horse is producing a six-piece Overlord trading figure box under the LIKE-yu line, made with AFORCE. AmiAmi and the AmiAmi Yahoo! Store are taking pre-orders, with a reference price of 7,920 yen including tax. Each box holds six randomly packed figures, roughly 50mm tall in PVC and ABS. Release is scheduled for December 2026.

NGJ set a Steam release date of November 12 for its turn-based dungeon roguelike, priced at 2,000 yen with a limited-time 15% launch discount. The Switch 2 and Switch versions follow on January 21, 2027. Version 1.0 includes three initial classes, nine main campaign dungeons, and the 100-floor endgame The Abyss, with three modes: Casual, Roguelike, and Hardcore.

Tokyo DJ and producer JASSKALL releases "Rajada" with Portuguese producer KEVU on August 28 via Smash The House, the label run by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. It is the first original track by a Japanese artist on the label's main imprint. Four more releases follow from September on labels by Andrew Rayel and VINAI.

Sega and DMM.com announced on August 24 that they will live stream the stage play "Like a Dragon: Kamurocho Hakkenden" on DMM TV. The August 29 performances at 1 PM and 6 PM will stream exclusively, with catch-up viewing until September 5 and archive viewing available through September 27. Tickets range from 3,000 to 6,500 yen.

NC announced its new team-based survival FPS 'Like or Die' during the gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 broadcast on August 26, 2026, releasing a reveal trailer, a lore trailer, a Steam store page, and a brand website. The game, previously known as 'Project Bonfire,' casts players as streamers on a universe-scale platform called 'Quaya Stream,' competing in matches of four teams of four players each, for a total of 16 players. Each team defends a base called a 'Nexus,' which allows respawning as long as it stands; the goal is to destroy enemy Nexuses and be the last team alive. The signature mechanic is 'Block Action,' where players place simple square blocks to build walls, bridges, and high ground, reshaping the battlefield. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and is planned for PC and consoles, with a PC (Steam) release confirmed. The release date has not been announced. In an interview, Director Hyungsoo Chun and Production Head Hwan Kim explained that 'likes' function as an out-of-game quest reward from cosmic sponsors, tied to avatar customization, not in-match stats.

On August 17, independent developer Hokuto released a Spanish version of the free short romance ADV 'Kobayakawa-san wa Soulslikesque.' The localization was proposed directly by translator Facundo Seghezzo, who discovered the game through an overseas let's play. The game now supports Japanese, English, and Spanish, and has been played about 77,000 times on PLiCy.

Tokyo Shoko Research reported that game developer Odd Number and two related companies filed for bankruptcy in the Tokyo District Court on August 5. Odd Number had 10,320,780,000 yen in liabilities as of December 2024. The company is best known for developing Link! Like! Love Live!, which ended service on June 30.

KADOKAWA's KDcolle brand is releasing a 1/6 scale figure of Chiyo from The Elder Sister-Like One, based on an original illustration by Pochi Iida for Comic Market. Pre-orders open Friday, July 17. The figure is sculpted by miya and features detachable parts for an alternate state.

The television anime adaptation of Tsumuji Yoshimura's manga Just Like Mona Lisa unveiled its first trailer, lead cast member, and main staff on Saturday, August 1, during a stage panel at the ANImagic convention in Mannheim, Germany. Chika Anzai will voice Hinase, the protagonist who lives without a gender. Kana Shundo, known for Apocalypse Hotel, is directing the series at SHAFT, with CyberAgent managing production. Nobuhiro Sugiyama, whose credits include Arakawa Under the Bridge and March Comes in Like a Lion, is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director, while Yuki Hayashi, composer for My Hero Academia and Medalist, is writing the music. The manga, which ran on Square Enix's Gangan Online website from May 2018 to December 2022, has surpassed 1 million copies in circulation. The series consists of eight main volumes plus companion volumes X and Y. The announcement also included a live drawing session by Yoshimura, with SHAFT CEO Mitsutoshi Kubota and CyberAgent producer Manami Kabashima in attendance.

DIG has announced two new entries in its DIGSTA PVC statue series. From the anime Bocchi the Rock!, Nijika Ijichi appears in a maid outfit based on her appearance during the Shuka Festival cultural festival episode. The figure stands approximately 175mm tall including the base, is priced at 12,100 yen including tax, and is scheduled for release in December 2026. A purchase bonus exclusive to the DIG official online store includes a replacement face part with an intimidating expression. Separately, Goro Majima from the game Like a Dragon 8 Gaiden: Pirates in Hawaii joins the series in pirate costume. That figure stands approximately 180mm tall including the base, is priced at 15,400 yen including tax, and also ships in December 2026. The DIG online store exclusive bonus for Majima is a Goro (Monochrome) Figure that can be swapped between two styles. Both statues are painted PVC, ABS, and acrylic resin finished products. DIG uses digital modeling to reproduce costume textures and details. Photos shown are of prototypes and may differ from the final product.

Sega's Like a Dragon 8 Gaiden: Pirates in Hawaii Steam online code is discounted to 1,733 yen (75% off) during Amazon Prime Day 2026. The spin-off stars Goro Majima as a pirate in Hawaii, featuring two battle styles and the series' signature side content. The deal is available for a limited time on Amazon Japan.

The Uniqlo PEACE FOR ALL T-shirt designed with Akamai has a block of characters on the back that is actually a Base64-encoded Bash script. Engineer Tristan Sherliker decoded it, revealing an Easter egg that displays a swaying "PEACE FOR ALL" animation. The shirt originally planned to use peace symbols, but those were rejected for cultural reasons; the script was embedded as a substitute.

AI localization company Orange Inc. announced on Thursday that it will release five manga titles in English on its emaqi e-bookstore service, including Hiroki Ugawa's Shrine of the Morning Mist and Kensei Hokamoto's Resignation Agency: The Worker's Last Resort. The titles will be released on June 19 and June 26.

CyberAgent announced a television anime adaptation of Tsumuji Yoshimura's manga Just Like Mona Lisa, with SHAFT animating. The story follows a genderless protagonist and his childhood friends. The main cast and first trailer will debut at the ANImagic convention on August 1. The manga ended in December 2022 with 10 volumes and has sold over 1 million copies.

The Like a Dragon stage play, titled Butai Ryu ga Gotoku: Kamurochō Hkkenden, will run in Tokyo from August 21-30. The cast includes Yūya Uno as Kazuma Kiryū, Shuji Kikuchi as Goro Majima, and Sho Katou as Ichiban Kasuga. Daisuke Nishida directs and Kazuhito Yomeyama writes the script.

CloverWorks announced a regional tour of its POP UP SHOP 2026 event, starting January 16 in Ebetsu, Hokkaido, followed by Nagoya in February and Kochi in March. The pop-up shops will sell merchandise for series including My Dress-Up Darling, Wind Breaker, Bocchi the Rock!, Spy × Family, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and others. Limited quantities of past release goods and books will also be available. Each venue will display reproduction artwork and production materials, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the studio's animation process. The tour begins at Ebetsu Tsutaya Books (January 16 to February 4), moves to TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Noritake in Nagoya (February 13 to March 2), and ends at Kochi Tsutaya Books (March 27 to April 13). Stock and exhibits may vary by location. The announcement was made on January 9, 2026.

Tomo Nagawa's manga "Would You Like to Be a Tanuki?" is getting a television anime adaptation, as announced by publisher Ichijinsha on Wednesday. The staff unveiled a teaser video and visual alongside the announcement. Jun Kamiya, known for directing "Kingdom" season 1, "Hikaru no Go," and "Let's Make a Mug Too," is directing the anime at Nippon Animation. Masaki Wachi, who worked on "Kingdom" seasons 1 and 2, is supervising and writing the series scripts. Cocoro Takemoto is designing the characters, and Minako Seki is composing the music. The story follows the mythical tanuki creature Koganemaru, who approaches humans troubled by life and offers them the chance to become a tanuki, helping them rediscover what matters in their own lives. Nagawa launched the manga in Ichijinsha's Comic Pool digital magazine in April 2021. The ninth compiled volume was released in October 2025, and the 10th volume is scheduled for May 25.
