Ma Dong-seok is part of the cast of PHYSINT, the spy action game directed by Hideo Kojima. His role was confirmed before Bill Skarsgård was announced as the lead on September 17, 2026.
Ma Dong-seok's involvement in PHYSINT was already known before the game's lead was named. He was confirmed as part of the cast alongside Charlie Fraser and Minami Hamabe, and Kojima Productions added Bill Skarsgård as the protagonist during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast on September 17, 2026. The casting update places Ma Dong-seok in a supporting position in a project that has been public since February 2024.
The longer record of his relationship with Hideo Kojima predates the game. Game Spark traced the connection to 2021, when Kojima mentioned the actor on X, followed by a 2022 Zoom call and a 2023 visit to Kojima Productions' studio. Ma Dong-seok later appeared in a cameo in DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. That timeline establishes the PHYSINT role as the continuation of a working relationship rather than a first meeting.
Coverage of the two stories diverges in emphasis rather than fact. One treats the PHYSINT role as the latest step in a five-year association. The other places the role inside a larger casting push, with Kojima stating that more cast announcements are planned and that performance capture and ADR on the horror game OD resumed in 2026 after the SAG-AFTRA strike suspension. Across both stories, what is settled is Ma Dong-seok's place in the PHYSINT cast, the lead casting of Skarsgård, and the ongoing nature of production.

Kojima Productions announced on September 17, 2026, during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, that Bill Skarsgård will play the lead in PHYSINT, the new spy action title directed by Hideo Kojima. Skarsgård plays the protagonist, the character the player controls. A new teaser visual uses photos Kojima took himself of Skarsgård and Charlie Fraser during costume fittings, scans, and camera tests held earlier this year. Skarsgård joins a cast that already includes Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe, whose involvement was announced earlier. Kojima said he had long been a fan of Skarsgård's work and that Skarsgård is also a fan of his, and that the tests left him confident in the project's direction. Casting, actor scans, and work with outside creators are ongoing, and more cast announcements are planned. In the same message, Kojima said performance capture and ADR recording on the horror game OD resumed this year after the SAG-AFTRA strike suspension.
