Millennium Actress is one of five Satoshi Kon works in the Satoshi Kon Birth Festival 2026, which runs Oct 9-12 at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas and Shibuya HUMAX Cinema. Separately, NHK General rebroadcast an interview special with Kon on August 22, ahead of the August 24 anniversary of his death.
Millennium Actress is on the Satoshi Kon Birth Festival 2026 lineup, along with Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, and the TV series Paranoia Agent. The festival runs Oct 9-12 at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas and Shibuya HUMAX Cinema. That lineup is the same five titles as the festival's first year, and the second edition adds stage events: Megumi Hayashibara, Junko Iwao, Asami Notomi, and Haruko Momoi appear for talks. The Paprika 4K remaster screens Oct 12, Kon's birthday, with Hayashibara on stage, and a pop-up shop runs through Nov 15.
Millennium Actress appears in the festival lineup only. The stories do not say which day it screens, whether it gets a remaster, or which guests are tied to it.
Before the festival, NHK General rebroadcast 'NHK Video File: Want to Meet That Person Encore Satoshi Kon' on August 22 at 5:40 AM. The program compiles interviews with Kon and aired ahead of the August 24 anniversary of his death. It originally broadcast on August 23, 2025. The rebroadcast ran alongside 4K screenings of Paprika.
Both stories put Millennium Actress in circulation as part of a wider Kon body of work rather than on its own. The festival covers the five titles as a group, and the NHK special covers Kon's interviews. Coverage of Millennium Actress specifically amounts to its place on the festival schedule, with no announcement about the film by itself.
