MLB figures in Japanese merch lines and a September PlayStation Plus game lineup. McFarlane Toys has opened preorders for a 6-inch Shohei Ohtani figure, and MLB The Show 26 is part of the PS Plus September free games.
Japanese merchandising for MLB has clustered around Shohei Ohtani, with three different product lines running from July to September 2026. Bandai released the Gashapon "MLB Capsule Torso Players Edition" in mid-July at 500 yen per pull, with six Japanese MLB players: Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Munetaka Murakami, Kodai Senga, Seiya Suzuki, and Lars Nootbaar. A second Bandai line, the Gashapon "MLB 3D Uniform Charm," followed in the second week of August at 300 yen per capsule, with six uniform charms that include Ohtani, Aaron Judge, and other stars.
McFarlane Toys added Ohtani to its 6-inch MLB action figure line. The figure is about 15 cm tall with 22 points of articulation, includes a bat and a base with the MLB logo, and is priced at 5,800 yen including tax, or 4,869 yen at Rakuten Books. Preorders are open. The domestic run is 3,000 units, placing it in the same line as other McFarlane MLB releases rather than as a limited collector item.
On the game side, MLB The Show 26 is one of four PlayStation Plus free games for September 2026, available from September 1 to October 5 across all plans. It is the PS5 version. The lineup also includes Sniper Elite: Resistance, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes; once added to a library during the window, the games remain playable while the subscription is active. Separate coverage of the September lineup gives the same date window and plan availability, with no discrepancy on the PlayStation Plus details.
