Natsume's Book of Friends has no new anime production in these stories. Instead, the series' recent activity is a run of retail and event merchandise, spread from June to November 2026. An Animate Fair with new "Exorcist ver." illustrations of Takashi Natsume, Nyanko-sensei, Shuichi Natori, and Seiji Matoba ran September 12 to 27. A collaboration with earth music&ecology Japan Label opened pre-orders on August 7 for eight apparel and accessory items built on Nyanco-sensei and motifs like sake bottles and grilled squid. COSPA scheduled a Nyanko-sensei zip hoodie for pre-sale in December and general sale in mid-January 2027.
Two later retail pushes move goods into new channels. Armabianca and Tower Records put a pop up shop at Tower Records Shinjuku, Tower Records Umeda NU Chayamachi, and Tower Records Online from November 20 to 29, 2026, selling 15 items built on a new artist-themed visual with a saxophone. Okada Shokai began selling the made-to-order Natsume Hanko-cho Library Stamp Collection at the FUNCO main store on November 4, 2026. The stamps come in 10 designs covering the mascot and supporting cast, including Reiko Natsume, Kaname Tanuma, Toru Taki, Shuichi Natori, and Seiji Matoba, at 3,300 yen with tax, with custom engraving available.
Broader promotions place the series inside other events. LaLa's 50th anniversary campaign at Lawson stores nationwide from October 27, 2026 includes Natsume's Book of Friends goods alongside three other LaLa titles, with art sheets, acrylic stands, badges, and nail tips. Good Smile Company opened pre-orders for a Nendoroid Surprise box of six random trading figures at 8,672 yen including tax, with a release date of July 31, 2027. The one stage item is the SOUND THEATRE musical reading play "Summer Haze of the Sound Drama Chapter," whose evening performance was live streamed on U-NEXT with a limited-time archive.
