ASUS JAPAN announced a large lineup of gaming hardware at Gamescom 2026, timed to the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. The centerpiece is a set of three 24.5-inch e-sports OLED monitors, led by the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace with a 720Hz vertical refresh rate. The other two, the ROG Strix OLED XG259QDPG Ace and XG259QDNS Ace, reach 560Hz and 360Hz respectively. The top model uses a tandem WOLED panel, while the others use Samsung Display's RGB stripe QD-OLED. All three are Full HD with DisplayPort 2.1 or 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connectivity. The announcement also included two triple-mode LCD displays, the ROG Strix XG27UCMG and XG27ACNS, plus the ROG Gladius IV Ace and ROG Spatha X 65K mice, a Wi-Fi 8 router called the ROG Rapture GT-BN98, and a special edition graphics card themed after Capcom's Onimusha Way of the Sword. None of these products have confirmed release dates or prices for Japan, according to the sources.

Capcom released a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword during the gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live pre-show, previewing the sword-fighting action and introducing the Genma brothers Ifu and Burai. The game is now set to launch on September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, moving up from an earlier September 25 date. A playable demo, Onimusha: Way of the Sword DEMO, received an expansion update, adding a new area called Oni no Kakurezato, battles against various Genma, and a fight with the formidable enemy Datsura. The demo is now also playable on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox on PC. To mark the update, Capcom launched a campaign where if players collectively land over 10 million successful Issen moves in the demo, all players receive Red Souls as free DLC. The trailer also showed battles against Dokyo, Rashogan, and Dobatsu-ten, and a new promotional art depicts protagonist Miyamoto Musashi facing Sasaki Ganryu. The game's standard edition costs 8,990 yen.

Capcom has started a nine-part character introduction video series for Onimusha Way of the Sword, its upcoming sword action game set for release on September 4. The series, titled Onimusha Kirokucho, opened on August 17 with a video focusing on protagonist Miyamoto Musashi, voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya. The narrator for the series is the Oni no Kajin, a spirit residing in Musashi's demon gauntlet, voiced by Aya Endo. The first video shows Musashi as a martial artist who comes to Kyoto to master the way of the sword, with his fate changed by demonic power. Capcom has scheduled subsequent videos: Sasaki Ganryu on August 19, Rashogan on August 21, Shuten Doji on August 25, Daisuibara on August 27, and Dokyo on September 1. Characters for August 31, September 2, and September 3 will be announced later. The game is the first new Onimusha entry in over 20 years, set in early Edo-period Kyoto overrun by Genma. A demo is available, featuring the Kiyomizu-dera stage and battles against Sasaki Ganryu.

Capcom held a media tour and hands-on event for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first completely new entry in the series in 20 years, ahead of its September 4 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The playable build covered the section after the Ganryu battle, including the wide-linear Kyoto field and boss fights against Daidara, Raishogan, and Byakue. The field reproduces real Kyoto landmarks such as Kiyomizu-dera, Yasui Konpira-gu, Rokudo Chinno-ji, and Kennin-ji, with the Kiyomizu stage matching the real floorboard count. The Raishogan battle at Yasui Konpira-gu stood out for its variety of attacks and clear countermeasures, including cutting bond threads with a bow to weaken the boss. The Switch 2 version supports Joy-Con 2 motion controls for one-handed and two-handed attacks. The demo's difficulty was intentionally accessible, but the full game includes stronger enemies and more complex attack patterns. Producer Akito Kadowaki and Director Ken Nihei also discussed the game's sound design, which uses a custom sound-effect sword and a suitcase with a broken drum pedal to create the special move sounds.

Capcom has launched a short video project for the upcoming sword-fighting action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, alongside a free PC benchmark tool. The short video series, titled Onimusha: Ken no Michi Short, began on July 13, 2026, with the first episode named Issen 5 Consecutive! This is Onimusha! The series will be released periodically on the official YouTube channel, the Onimusha X account, and the CAPCOM TikTok account, introducing combat, Genma enemies, stages, and other game elements leading up to the game's release. On July 14, Capcom also released a free benchmark software on Steam and the Epic Games Store, allowing players to test their PC's performance by watching a demo of the game and receiving a score. The benchmark requires approximately 15GB of free space. On Steam, the benchmark is accessed by requesting access under the Playtest section rather than a direct download. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for release on September 4, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The standard edition is priced at 8,990 yen. A demo version allowing players to experience the beginning of the story is also available.

Capcom producer Akihito Kadowaki has responded to player complaints that the demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword is too easy, promising that the full game will offer more challenge. In a video letter released via the game's official overseas account, Kadowaki acknowledged feedback that the demo lacked difficulty. He explained that the demo, which covers the first 30 minutes of the story, intentionally unlocks skills normally earned later in the game to let players sample protagonist Miyamoto Musashi's full range of actions. This customization, he suggested, may have made the early Genma enemies feel too simple. Kadowaki assured players that in the latter part of the game, both strong enemies and regular Genma will provide challenging battles. The demo offers two difficulty modes: Swordplay for action-focused play and Action with assistance features. The full game launches September 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Direct on June 9 also announced a Switch 2 version, which supports Joy-Con 2 motion controls, releasing the same day.

The demo lets players try swordplay mechanics such as parrying, deflecting, instant kills, Oni weapons, and soul absorption at the Kiyomizu Temple stage, and includes a boss battle against rival Sasaki Kojirō. Players who have demo save data can obtain the Shuto charm in the full game. The title will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
