Sunny Side Up will release a Happy Kuji line for Chibi Maruko-chan on Saturday, November 7, 2026, marking 40 years since the original manga began serialization. Each draw costs 850 yen including tax, and the lineup has nine prize ranks plus a Last Prize. The Special Prize is a roughly 21cm figure of Maruko's cluttered room from the chapter "Today Is Home Visit Day" in volume 10, down to her expression and the onomatopoeia behind her. The A Prize is a 10-type Figure Collection, roughly 5.5 to 8.7cm tall, with characters on pedestals bearing their dialogue. The Last Prize reproduces the cover of manga volume 1 as a figure about 17.5cm tall. Middle ranks include tote bags with title-page art, melamine cups and plates, rubber mascot keyholders, flat pouches, mini towels, a can collection, and sticker sets themed around Class 3-4.

CyberAgent will release Luxiem Kuji Vol.2, an original kuji for the NIJISANJI EN unit Luxiem, on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The lineup runs from 10:00 on October 31 to 23:59 on November 30, at 770 yen per draw. Sales are split between an online kuji with no losing tickets and an offline kuji, which also rolls out in select overseas regions. The visuals use a figure skating theme.

Turok: Origins arrives roughly 19 years after 2008's TUROK, and Game Spark played its opening section on PC and Nintendo Switch 2 at a media hands-on event held alongside Tokyo Game Show 2026. The demo let players customize the protagonist, pick from three classes, and switch freely between first-person and third-person viewpoints. Players can play entirely in first person or switch: TPS for exploring and fighting groups, FPS for close-range aiming. Game Spark cleared the demo boss dinosaur after its shield broke and called it a satisfying fight.

Saber Interactive's Madrid studio is developing Turok: Origins, a PvE shooter for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Universal Products & Experiences. Game director Jesus Iglesias told 4Gamer at Tokyo Game Show 2026 that each planet has a distinct environment and creatures, designed around that setting, and that players use firearms, bows, melee, and special abilities.

Naoki Bando, a voice actor whose career ran more than four decades, died on Monday, September 28. He was 69. His agency Production Ace announced the death on Friday and said he had been undergoing medical treatment. Bando voiced Robonyan in Yo-kai Watch and Torenov Y. Minovsky in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, among roles spanning anime, games, and Japanese dubs of foreign films and television.

Saber Interactive brought a playable build of Turok: Origins to Tokyo Game Show 2026, where press tried a jungle mission and a Tyrannosaurus boss fight. The game is a prequel to the original Turok and supports switching between third-person and first-person views, plus online co-op for up to three players. Players pick one of three Primal Forms: Raven, Cougar, or Bison. Each form has a dedicated melee weapon and its own finisher animations. In the demo, loadouts were fixed, but the full version lets players equip any weapon regardless of form and choose from more than 15 Echo Sync abilities. Character growth runs through Primal Form skill trees, Talismans dropped by bosses, Mutagens found in the world, and more than 270 Mods for weapons and Echo Syncs. The main campaign is roughly 12 hours. Turok: Origins is scheduled for release in spring 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The update also expands the Transcendence difficulty of the Corrosion Ancient Dragon boss challenge, and runs the Survey Pickup featuring Merlin, Elizabeth, and Diane through October 8.

A four-episode side story about Chinggis, the elite Balka police officer from the TBS Sunday drama VIVANT, will stream on U-NEXT starting Sunday, September 20. Bokuzo Masana plays Akram, the orphanage principal, and Rena Matsui plays Naira, a teacher. The story covers Chinggis's orphanage childhood under Nogoon Beki, his first meeting with Beki, and why he became a police officer. Episodes run Sundays and Wednesday the 23rd at 9:00 PM.

The Korean Culture Center Los Angeles and the Korea Creative Content Agency will host the 2026 K-Comics Origin Los Angeles exhibition from September 11 to October 17. It covers Korean comics' move into the webtoon format and features All of Us Are Dead, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, and Solo Leveling, with installations and interactive kiosks. Koei Tecmo opened pre-orders on September 1 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered, a remaster that combines the original Dynasty Warriors 2, the series' first million-seller, with its Xtreme Legends expansion. The game launches October 1, 2026 at 7,480 yen. It runs on Unreal Engine 5, with more than 40 officers from the original rendered in updated detail, and Shiran, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors ORIGINS, joins the roster.
New actions include a dodge that can trigger a just-dodge counter and a just power guard that deflects enemy attacks and stuns the target. Musou mode gains new scenarios, and the game keeps free mode, challenge mode, and an offline two-player split-screen option for Musou, free, and VS modes. VS mode offers eight stages from the original, including a 3v3 battle at Hulao Gate and a 1v1 contest to defeat 20 enemy soldiers first. A new weapon synthesis system lets players consume unwanted weapons to transfer attributes and skills. Players can switch new elements on or off with normal or classic settings.

At gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, broadcast August 26 Japan time, Airship Syndicate showed a gameplay trailer for DUST: Origins. The top-down action horror shooter comes from the creators of the Darksiders series. Footage shows heavy weapons like shotguns and gatlings used against criminals and monsters. The game is in development for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, said to be in final stages, with a Kickstarter campaign underway.

Saber Interactive announced on August 26 that Turok: Origins, the first full new installment in the Turok series in about 19 years, will launch in spring 2027. The game is set in the Lost Lands, where players join the Order of the Turok to fight dinosaurs and aliens threatening humanity. Konami Digital Entertainment released update Version 1.004 for Gradius Origin Collection on August 3, 2026, fixing a bug in the newly developed Salamander III that occurred after players cleared 128 or more loops. The bug reset the maximum selectable loop count in stage select when returning to the title menu. Because Salamander III increases difficulty with each loop, the 128-loop threshold drew surprise and praise on social media, with comments such as "Is there anyone who can play over 128 loops?!" and "In other words, someone actually did it!" Free-to-air broadcaster BS12 Twelvi announced on July 23 that it will rebroadcast the 2013 original anime special Pokémon: The Origin. The four-episode series originally aired on TV Tokyo to commemorate the release of Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the first anime to adapt the story of the original Pokémon Red and Green games, with protagonist Red voiced by Junko Takeuchi rather than the long-running Satoshi of the main anime series. The cast also includes Takuya Eguchi as Green, Katsuji Mori as Professor Oak, and Tomokazu Sugita as Brock, replacing Yuji Ueda from the Satoshi-era show. The rebroadcast begins August 2 at 19:00 on BS12. The special is notable for featuring the first animated appearance of Mega Charizard X, a form that did not exist in the original games and was kept secret until the episode aired. At the time, only Mega Charizard Y had been announced under the generic name Mega Charizard, making the reveal of the black-and-blue variant a surprise for fans.

Harlequin Enterprises' Japanese arm announced on June 15 that its monthly Harlequin Original magazine has ended publication with the July issue, which shipped on June 11. The magazine launched in January 2008 as Monthly HQ Comic and ran for over 18 years. The company will continue releasing titles under the Harlequin Comic label in print and digital formats.

The 30th annual Fantasia International Film Festival will host the world premiere of the Cherry and Virgin film, the North American premiere of the Sekiro: No Defeat anime, and international premieres of the live-action WIND BREAKER film and The Origin of Ultraman documentary.
