ROG XREAL R1 Gaming AR Glasses Launch in Japan for 141,550 Yen

XREAL and ASUS's Republic of Gamers brand opened pre-orders in Japan on June 15 for the ROG XREAL R1, a pair of gaming-oriented augmented reality glasses priced at 141,550 yen. The glasses use Sony Micro OLED displays with a 1920x1080 pixel resolution per eye, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 0.01ms response time. They project a virtual screen equivalent to 428 inches at 10 meters or 171 inches at 4 meters, with a 57-degree field of view. The device weighs 91 grams and supports native 3DoF tracking, with a space-fixed mode and a follow mode. Audio is tuned by Bose, and the glasses include a three-step electronic dimming function and an auto-transparency feature. Connection is via USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode, supporting plug-and-play with the ROG Ally handheld PC, as well as Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, iPhone 15 and later, Android devices, MacBooks, and Windows PCs. An included ROG Control Dock adds DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 inputs for consoles and PCs. Pre-orders run until July 13, with shipments starting July 14. The first 300 customers receive a bonus package including the XREAL Eye 6DoF camera accessory and a ROG KERIS II ACE gaming mouse.
