Showa American Story Returns With Gamescom 2026 Demo and Trailer
NEKCOM announced on July 23 that its RPG "Showa American Story" will appear at gamescom 2026 with a playable demo and a new trailer. The announcement, made on the official Japanese X account, is the first update since November 2025, when the developer postponed the game's release from 2025 to 2026. The game is set in an alternate 1991 America that has become a colony of Japanese economy and culture, overrun by monsters and zombies. A young girl travels across a wasteland infused with retro Japanese pop culture. The game is developed by NEKCOM and published by 4Divinity and 2P Games. It is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Windows via Steam. The gamescom event runs from August 26 to 30 in Cologne, Germany. The announcement post included a visual showing the back of a character holding a flag in a wasteland. Fans on social media celebrated the update after roughly eight months of silence from both the Japanese and overseas official accounts.
