Kojima Productions announced on September 17, 2026, during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, that Bill Skarsgård will play the lead in PHYSINT, the new spy action title directed by Hideo Kojima. Skarsgård plays the protagonist, the character the player controls. A new teaser visual uses photos Kojima took himself of Skarsgård and Charlie Fraser during costume fittings, scans, and camera tests held earlier this year. Skarsgård joins a cast that already includes Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe, whose involvement was announced earlier. Kojima said he had long been a fan of Skarsgård's work and that Skarsgård is also a fan of his, and that the tests left him confident in the project's direction. Casting, actor scans, and work with outside creators are ongoing, and more cast announcements are planned. In the same message, Kojima said performance capture and ADR recording on the horror game OD resumed this year after the SAG-AFTRA strike suspension.

Rapper ACE COOL released his third album, Haigamine, on Wednesday, September 16, about two years after his previous album. The nine-track record is named after Mt. Haigamine, which overlooks his hometown of Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, and is the first to use a place name from Kure in its title. Guests include Jinmenusagi, Bonbero, Siero, BFN TOKYOTRILL, and JC.

Bandai is releasing the Patissier Poron from the 2001 anime Motto! Ojamajo Doremi as an adult-oriented cosplay toy under its Special Memorize line. The official X account announced on August 25 that the TV anime Yumeiro Patissiere and its second series Yumeiro Patissiere SP Professional will begin subscription streaming sequentially from September. Streaming platforms will be announced later. The story follows Amano Ichigo, a girl who transfers to St. Marie Academy to train as a pâtissière after meeting instructor Henri-sensei, and later runs a shop as a high school student.

The Apex Legends collaboration cafe Nessie Cafe returns on August 6, this time hosted at internet cafe and esports venues operated by Disk City Entertainment. Crunchyroll announced the English dub cast and July 22 premiere for the Korean-animated adaptation of the Tomb Raider King webtoon. The series, which began airing in Japan on July 8, streams on Crunchyroll. Monty Thompson voices protagonist Jooheon Suh, with Cassie Ewulu, Alex Hom, and Charles Nguyen among the cast.
