The film mentor, directed by Keisuke Yoshida, pairs Hayato Isomura and Seiya Suezawa of Ae! group for the first time. Isomura plays Ryunosuke and Suezawa plays Takumi, childhood friends whose lives changed when a fireworks fire broke out 15 years earlier, opposite Go Ayano as Nonomoto. Isomura described their working relationship as like a little brother, and Suezawa as like an older brother.
Preorders have opened on Gashapon Online for Mobile Suit Gundam Gundam Head Mejirushi Accessory 3, a six-type charm lineup drawn from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. Crunchyroll announced Storyworks, a new division combining Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Japanese creators, and Sony Pictures to develop global stories as anime and Japanese anime as live action. The company also said Crunchyroll Manga expands to more than 250 titles in English-speaking markets, and PlayStation 5 gets a dedicated anime space next spring.

Studio Sota is releasing miniature models of Wedge Motorcycle custom bikes as capsule toys and box toys, scheduled for January 2027. Box toy pre-orders are open at the Studio Sota Store. Pixomnia Studio opened the free open beta test for Airsoft Online on October 8 on PC via Steam. The build supports Japanese display and a Japanese server, and runs Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination, and Stronghold on indoor and outdoor maps at up to 6 vs. 6. Matches use airsoft guns, selectable BBs, and a fluid-dynamics-based physics system. The beta runs until October 26, with release planned within 2026.
Sega's Sonic 35th anniversary exhibition, SONIC the Exhibition -ACROSS GENERATIONS, runs from October 9 to November 1, 2026, at Ikebukuro PARCO Main Building 7F PARCO FACTORY. Fine released the Early Access version of Satori Chunibyo Consultation Room -Translator of the Second Reality- on Steam for PC on October 9, 2026. Developed by Shadow Glove, the psychological mystery adventure costs 1980 yen, with a 1280 yen price through November 12. Players act as director of the Satori Second Reality Consultation Room, reading visitors' inner worlds through Dialogue, Mind Reading, and Translation. Early Access covers the prologue through Chapter 4, roughly 7 to 9 hours.

Glass Head Dolls will release the Soulslike action RPG Prison of Husks for PC (Steam) and PS5 on January 27, 2027, with an updated demo now on Steam. The studio is led by British-Indonesian developer Tammy Morley, who built the initial prototype alone before funding from WINGS. The full version is planned to support 13 languages, including Japanese. Price is undecided.

MESON co-created an XR gallery called Immersive Wood Gallery with Azusa Sekkei and Azusa Research Institute as part of Azusa Sekkei's 80th anniversary project. The location-based MR walkthrough uses Apple Vision Pro at HANEDA SKY CAMPUS, the firm's headquarters, and lets visitors experience the circulation from forests to timber to architecture. Indie developer Hokuto released the free short romance ADV "Ohayakawa-san is Soulslike" for PC and mobile browsers on October 8. The game uses four commands (light attack, strong attack, parry, rolling) to work through conversations, and it closes out a trilogy that began with "Kobayakawa-san is Soulslike" in August 2026 and continued with "Kobayakawa-san is Soulslike 5" in September. Playtime is about 15 minutes, and the first two games are not required reading.

KAZÉ's Josh Sippie said the publisher has the original English language manga SOL Sistah for two volumes, with the creator planning more beyond that. Andrew Arnold said an official title list is still being worked out. Emilia Sowersby credited KAZÉ France and KAZÉ Germany, both long established, with helping secure the imprint's first titles, which will be announced soon.

The lineup includes Living With My New Cat, a full-color sequel manga by Fujihito arriving August 2027 in an oversized print edition at $14.99 USA and $19.99 CAN, with an ebook edition planned for digital platforms. Teito Yuzuriha's Zukyun x Bakyun, about two elite assassins who stumble into romance, is set for September 2027. Suzusuke's novel The One-Eyed, One-Armed, One-Legged Sorcerer, with illustrations by Sumihei, arrives November 2026 and follows a legendary magician who emerges from a forest. August 2027 also brings Twinkling Secrets Told Us Tonight Is the Night by NOJIRO GURI. Record of a Reincarnated Chancellor: I Was Summoned by a Hopeless Demon Lord to Rebuild Her Army, written by Panda Pudding with art by Hiyaori, is scheduled for February 2027. Seven Seas separately confirmed audiobook editions for three novels.
GKIDS will rescreen Baku Kinoshita and Kadzuya Konomoto's anime film The Last Blossom (Housenka) on October 13, the same day it launches digitally. The company had planned only August 30-31 dates, but English subtitles ran several seconds out of sync and some second-day shows were cancelled. GKIDS supplied a corrected version and said it was weighing makeup screenings.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will add Phoenix Cyclops as its first Year 1 DLC character on November 2, with a gameplay trailer published on the game's YouTube channel. Phoenix Cyclops is Cyclops after acquiring the Phoenix Force, and the trailer shows him wreathed in Phoenix flames and firing a heavy Optic Blast, plus a cracked-black alternate form and an arranged classic costume. Ray Chase, who plays Cyclops in the X-Men '97 animated series, voices him. The character is part of the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass, which covers four characters and one stage; three more fighters and a new stage are planned. The 4v4 tag fighter launched on August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, August 7 in Japan. Its 20 launch characters include Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Doctor Doom and Deadpool.
Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Crunchyroll Storyworks on Wednesday during the Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum at the North Javits Center in New York, on the eve of New York Comic Con. The new division will adapt stories from around the world into anime and turn Japanese anime into live-action adaptations, working with Japanese creators. Tohru Iokibe, a 25-year veteran of Sony, will lead Storyworks and report to Crunchyroll Chief Content Officer Asa Suehira. The unit sits inside Crunchyroll's content group and will develop projects meant to be greenlit for HAYATE Inc., the anime production venture Aniplex and Crunchyroll founded in March 2025 and based in Tokyo, led by Chairman and CEO Masanori Miyake and President and COO Leo Watanabe. Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Ravi Ahuja delivered brief remarks at the forum. Iokibe recently led IP initiatives connecting SPE and PlayStation Productions.
In an interview, manga author Takako Shimura discussed the anime adaptation of Scenes From Awajima, also known as A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA. Shimura said she made no specific requests for the adaptation and that the production team worked carefully. She said the school drew partly on the Takarazuka Revue as a reference, and that the omnibus structure serves stories about people who are not geniuses.
