Konami released Gensou Suikoden STAR LEAP for iOS and Android on August 7, 2026. The smartphone RPG is the first completely new game in the series in 14 years. Fans have responded positively, with longtime players saying it feels like the classic Suikoden. A Steam version is planned.
Konami announced on August 6 that the protagonist of the original Gensou Suikoden will appear in the new mobile RPG Gensou Suikoden STAR LEAP. The character, bearing the title Heir of Liberation, is the protagonist as they appeared in Gensou Suikoden I. At maximum enhancement, the character can deal massive damage with powerful all-attacks and secret arts, and can greatly strengthen their own attack power through individuality. The announcement came during the official program Gensou Suikoden Live vol. 7: Pre-Release Special for Gensou Suikoden STAR LEAP. The game launched on August 7 for iOS and Android in Japan, with a Steam version and overseas release undecided. STAR LEAP is a free-to-play title and the first mobile game in the series, set in Solar Year 453 in the same world as previous entries. It depicts a new story of the 108 Stars centered on the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes. The protagonist, a village chief's child, sets out with companions Hisui, Seileen, and Shapur to restore their village after an attack by a mysterious organization. The game features pixel-art graphics, timeline-based battles, and a war mode with real-time strategy elements.
Konami announced that Suikoden: Star Leap will launch in Japan on August 7 for iOS and Android. The game is also planned for PC via Steam, but the Japanese release starts on mobile only. Four new characters were revealed with voice actors: Avery (Shouta Aoi), Belladonna (Saya Kinoshita), Yume (Yuka Iguchi), and Lual (Akari Kito). A pre-release program, Gensou Suikoden Live Vol.7, is scheduled for August 6 at 20:00 on Konami's official YouTube channel.
