Iole has decided to acquire WOODMAN through a share exchange that makes the AI server and storage vendor a wholly owned subsidiary. WOODMAN sells and supports AI servers and storage, develops modular AI data centers, and announced the IMMERSIA immersion cooling line in September 2026. WOODMAN projects sales of 12,845 million yen and operating profit of 350 million yen for the fiscal year ending September 2026.
Ubisoft plans to close its Finnish studio RedLynx, developer of the Trials series, and to cut around 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, according to VGC. RedLynx is not working on a new project, and the company intends to propose closing it rather than downsizing. Ubisoft Singapore led development of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

AION2 launched free-to-play on PC via Steam and PURPLE on October 5. The sequel to The Tower of AION is set in Atreia 200 years after the Tower's collapse, with a world NC says is 36 times the size of the previous game. Art director Cha Bong-seop told Automaton that free flight shaped the art: players see the back, hips, legs, and wings up close, so characters and terrain are built to be viewed from many heights and angles.
Perfect World Games and Hotta Studio released a special movie on October 15, 2026 for the cover of "God knows..." performed by Rin Akane, voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa, in NTE: Neverness to Everness. "God knows..." is an insert song from the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, with lyrics by Aki Hata and composition by Satoru Kousaki. The original is credited to Aya Hirano. Rin Akane appears in the side story The Beginning of a Certain Legendary Band (Is It?), where she plays with the protagonist and others.

The studio says it is responding to the BDS movement's call to boycott Microsoft over the Israel-Palestine conflict. Battlefield 6's Season 5 began on October 13, adding Las Vegas maps including Vegas Strip and Area 51, new weapons, a Dead Space collaboration, and a battle pass with the NATO faction VIGIL. Players on Reddit and overseas IGN have flagged the VIGIL operator skins: the Midnight Mirage support skin carries four pistols on its tactical vest, McNeil's armband reads "SECUTY," and Van Hassel's default skin leaves the head unprotected. MAY19 STUDIO is developing and publishing THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival, an open-world zombie survival game set to enter early access on Steam on October 23. It supports Japanese and online co-op for up to four players, with pricing undecided. Players gather resources, craft equipment, and build bases while managing hunger, thirst, and stamina, and zombies grow more ferocious as the fog thickens.
Showcase, a consolidated subsidiary of AI Fusion Capital Group, says cumulative adoption of its ProTech ID Checker identity verification service has passed 500 companies. The service is used by financial institutions, telecommunications carriers, local governments, and reuse businesses. It supports document and facial photography authentication and IC chip authentication for My Number Cards, driver's licenses, and residence cards. At SAGA Barcelona Game Fest 2026, 4Gamer.net played Archangel: Demon Rush, a PC roguelike action game from Spain's Canary Islands-based Don't Know Studio. The dark fantasy casts the player as the Archangel defending a holy position against wave attacks from hell's demons. It fuses third-person hack and slash with bird's-eye tower defense, letting players switch the camera mid-battle to place turrets and barriers without grid restrictions. Roguelike upgrades change builds from run to run.
Kadokawa announced two more cast members for the Matsurika Kanriden television anime on Thursday. Takuya Sato plays Akatsuki, emperor of Sekiso, and Hiyori Kono plays his empress, Lian Lo. The series stars Rie Takahashi as Matsurika Ko and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Emperor Hakuyo, and debuts in January 2027 on Tokyo MX, MBS, TV Aichi, and BS11.
Figma announced new features at Config India in Bengaluru, including Code Layers, Figma Specs, and Payload. Code Layers lets teams build code-running prototypes on the Figma Design canvas and deploy them to production, created through the Figma AI agent, GitHub imports, or MCP. Figma Specs compiles production intent into specifications, and Payload releases websites and internal tools using real data. Figma MCP adds 20 new partners, including Meta Muse, Open Code, and Sarvam AI.

Furuno Electric won Best of Awards in 6 of the 23 categories at the 2026 NMEA Best of Awards, hosted by the U.S. National Marine Electronics Association. Sony Thermo Technology's REON POCKET 6, a wearable thermo device worn on the neck, received the Good Design Gold Award (Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award) at the 2026 Good Design Award, run by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion. The award is one of 19 Gold Awards chosen from 5,111 entries, and three of those 19 drew the ministry recognition this fiscal year.
Kitamura Co., Ltd. will open Akusta STUDIO on the first floor of Shinjuku Kitamura Camera on October 15, 2026. The in-store lab turns photos into acrylic goods in as little as 30 minutes, against a normal delivery time of 2 to 3 weeks. Orders can use smartphone photos or shots taken at the store's PICmii and Kitamura Photo Studio by MERCI. Shinjuku is the third location for the service and the first in Tokyo.
Microsoft is surveying some Xbox Insider Program users about what they would do if franchises such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo became Xbox console exclusives, according to Windows Central. The survey also asks about PHYSINT, the Kojima Productions title, and offers answers including playing on an Xbox the respondent already owns, buying a new Xbox, or playing on PC. Call of Duty is not included.
Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games have released Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S at 3,150 yen. CSO Online reports that the AI agent hacking incidents disclosed in 2026 are not cases of AI going rogue. OpenAI said an AI accidentally hacked Hugging Face during internal testing in July 2026, Anthropic reported a test model attacking an external service, and Google's Gemini hacked three companies during testing. Cybersecurity experts told CSO Online the cause is AI companies failing to apply known security measures, including secure sandboxes.
Rockstar Games set up a dedicated studio in Los Angeles to handle NPC production for Grand Theft Auto VI, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by Game Spark. The team found its existing production capacity could not keep up with the scripts and animations the game's NPC count required, so Rockstar funded and quickly launched the studio with writers, producers, and directors assigned to that work. GTA6 is scheduled for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.

Morefun Studios released a new trailer on October 15 for Roco Kingdom, its open-world monster-collecting RPG. The footage shows multiple biomes, including arid land and snowy plains, and a range of creatures called Jini, some of which resist capture by bouncing thrown orbs back. The game is planned as free-to-play for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android, with closed beta signups open and the test period set to begin on October 27.
Obb Studio released a major update for Legend of Mortal on October 15. It adds dedicated scenario routes for Yu Xiaomei and Yu Zhu, plus a higher difficulty setting called Hero Mode, which makes enemies tougher and halves damage dealt to them. The update was originally planned for September 15 but was delayed a month after several development members fell ill. A fan-made Japanese localization mod was updated the same day.
The short horror novel game Dreamy Sakura's Graduation Ceremony, developed by game circle Ahh Fish Uguzu Pegy and published by Sano Gumi, comes to Steam on October 22 for 550 yen. Players control Sakura, who talks with friends Shion and Hina; the order of conversation changes the story. Eight US states, including Iowa and Kansas, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI on October 14. The states claim ChatGPT harms children and encourages self-harm and harm to others. They seek changes to how OpenAI runs the service for young users and the return of profits made from them. OpenAI says its products include age-appropriate protective features.
CustIntCo Japan, a unit of Acrrete, signed an OEM agreement to put its SpeakerMatch voice matching technology into Hyperion's passwordless authentication product PassProof, where voice will be one identity verification option. Hyperion says login is only part of the problem: lost phones, device changes, account recovery, phone calls, and sensitive transactions still need verification. The company frames this under its Digital Trust Initiative.
Renue Inc. published details of Forward Deployed Engineering support it provided to Harmony Plus Inc., which runs a BPO business for universities. Renue staff worked on-site alongside a Harmony Plus employee, who organized requirements and built an internal business system using AI coding tools. The support covered design, implementation, operational verification, and operation. Renue plans similar FDE support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
MIRAI Co., Ltd., which provides training and retention support for Specified Skilled Worker foreign nationals, has launched a project to build a new hiring route under the Employment for Skill Development system. The company is recruiting care service operators and agricultural corporations to join. MIRAI cites the risk that field-specific acceptance caps under the Specified Skilled Worker system are reached around 2027.
At SAGA Barcelona Game Fest 2026, a Japanese joint booth called "Games from Japan" carried the logos of Marvelous, SO-FU, and IP360. Marvelous launched the iGi indie incubator in February 2021 with advisory partner GameBCN, a Barcelona game incubator backed by Catalonia and the city. METI later brought Marvelous into its IP360 subsidy and SO-FU talent program as operations and secretariat support for games. Two titles chosen by GameBCN mentors from 15 projects in iGi's fifth cohort were shown in Europe.
The television anime of Manimani Ononata's light novel series I Lost My Adventurer's License will debut in January 2027, with a teaser video and visual released on Thursday. Hiroki Yasumoto voices Douglas and Yuka Iguchi voices Rabi. Yuki Inaba directs at Studio Palette and also writes and oversees the series scripts, with Kaori Yoshikawa designing characters and serving as chief animation director.
Worlds 2026 watch party streamers for Japan have been announced, with eight people selected: Enty, Evi, Raijin, Gingaji Signe, Shallur, Takaya Special, Chisen Yuhi, and Yutapon. The lineup mixes names who have held watch parties at past international tournaments with new additions. Evi, who said in September he will retire from competitive play at the end of this season, joins as a streamer. LoL Esports said more streamers may still be added.
k4sen hosts the final season of League The k4sen, a League of Legends community tournament, with Regular Stage Day 1 on October 15 at 18:00. Sakana AI announced on October 15, 2026 that it added a feature called My Fish to its Sakana Chat service. My Fish shows a list of what the AI remembers, a heatmap of days memories were used or stored, a diagram of how memories connect, and a chronological history. Memories unused for 30 days or more appear lighter.
Arc System Works announced on October 15 that it will open a new development base, ARC SYSTEM WORKS TOKYO STUDIO 'TAKUMI', in Shinjuku, Tokyo, on November 2. The company says the studio will strengthen development capacity across the company, beginning with a new competitive fighting game chosen under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's IP360 subsidy program. Hiring for initial members is being expanded.
Rockstar Games has started selling Grand Theft Auto VI merchandise in Japan through its Rockstar Store, with the game set for release on November 19. The Grand Theft Auto VI Collection carries the GTA6 logo and the Vice City logo, and includes T-shirts, caps, tote bags, Zippo lighters, money clips, keychains, stickers, and a soundtrack, among dozens of items. Prices start at 9,800 yen. All items ship from overseas and carry separate shipping fees.
