From Kamen Rider Maise, the new action figure series TAF <TOKUSATSU ACTION FIGURE> launches with Jao, Vanken, and Muton. The soft vinyl Rider Hero Series also adds Jao and Tigle. The TAF line combines realistic sculpting at roughly 15 centimeters, 38 movable points, and a design meeting the Ages 3 and up safety standard. Jao releases October 3, Vanken October 3, and Muton October 17, 2026.
UnlimiTech Inc., developer of the AI workflow platform DataFlow AI for manufacturing, raised approximately 180 million yen in a seed round in July 2026. The funding came from Genesia Ventures, SMBC Edge, and Delta X1 Investment Limited Partnership. The company will use the funds to accelerate product development and strengthen hiring, aiming to build an "OS for manufacturing."
In a Game Spark interview, Team Tetrapod's Kniro discussed Staffer Retro: Psychic Detective Quest, released July 23 for PC, Mac, and Switch. Kniro said the most striking player feedback was praise for the yuri relationship between protagonists, which was not intentional. Re-examining the story after reading reviews, Kniro admitted it is clearly yuri.
Team Tetrapod and GamePia released the mystery adventure game Staffer Retro: Supernatural Mystery Quest on Steam and Nintendo Switch on July 23, 2026. The game is the second main entry in the Staffer series, following Staffer Case: Supernatural Mystery Adventure. It is set in Sicily a few months after the previous game. The protagonist, Velita Retro, a girl who runs a retro shop, suddenly takes on a large debt and searches for a powerful supernatural tool called a Step to pay it off. The game uses a document-matching deduction system inherited from the first title, but adds a Retro system that lets players overturn established conclusions and explore alternative sides of the truth. The story consists of six episodes with 11 endings and an estimated playtime of about 30 hours. Over 20 characters appear, and the main story is fully voiced in Japanese by 17 voice actors. The standard price is 3,500 yen, with a 10 percent discount on Steam until August 5. A demo is available. The game previously raised roughly 17 million yen through crowdfunding on Tumblbug and Campfire.
The first solo real event for the adventure game series Bustafellows, titled Bustafellows Prom, was held on July 5, 2026, at Nakano Zero Grand Hall in Tokyo. All six main cast members appeared for two performances. The event featured a reading drama and a fan survey award corner, but no new game or adaptation announcements were made, prompting a planned hashtag trend of "Seriously Nothing?!"
Team Tetrapod and GamePia released the final trailer for Staffer Retro: Psychic Power Mystery Quest, the latest in the mystery ADV series that has received overwhelmingly positive Japanese reviews on Steam. The game launches July 23 for Steam and Switch at 3,500 yen digital or 4,700 yen physical. It features 6 episodes totaling over 30 hours, Spine animation for 21+ characters, and a crowdfunding total over 17 million yen.
J.C. Staff announced on July 13 that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Umihoshi Nanai's Kizuguchi to Hōtai manga. The series will premiere in January 2027 on ABC and TV Asahi's Animazing!!! broadcasting block. Miyuki Ishida, who previously directed the I.Cinnamoroll animation and served as episode director on One Punch Man seasons 2 and 3, is directing the anime. This is her first time directing a TV series. Susumu Yamakawa, known for The Way of the Househusband and Murai in Love, is writing the scripts, and Natsuki Ōyama, who worked on Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?, is designing the characters. The romantic comedy follows Riyo Washizu, the daughter of a yakuza boss, and her caretaker Gō Kiritani, a young subordinate. Riyo has a fetish for seeing strong people when they are weak, a trait the story terms a "yowara" (weak loving) fetish. The manga began serialization on Kodansha's Comic Days app in August 2024. The fifth volume is scheduled to ship on July 16. Two teaser visuals were released, one of which the staff calls the "weak loving" version.

Gamepia opened pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch download version of Staffer Retro: Psychic Detective Quest on July 2, 2026, alongside a demo on the eShop and the full list of physical store bonuses. The game is the fourth in Team Tetrapod's Staffer series and the first to launch simultaneously on Switch and PC.
The manga "Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara" (also known as "Nabetama") is getting a television anime adaptation by studio J.C.Staff, with a planned debut in 2027. The announcement was made on June 25, 2026, via the manga's official X account, which also released a teaser visual. The series is written by Juntarō Aoki and illustrated by Shin Moriyama. It is described as a "non-fiction, chaos, hard gourmet report" comic following the protagonist Juntarō, a character who perceives all humans as beautiful girls due to excessive exposure to 2D media, as they travel to dangerous locations worldwide to sample unusual local dishes in pursuit of "50,000 points of deliciousness." The manga began serialization on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype web magazine in 2021, and Kadokawa has published five compiled volumes as of October 2024. It was listed among the top 20 manga for male readers in the 2023 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook. Aoki commented on the adaptation, calling it "one of the craziest Manga ever" and expressing anticipation for overseas reactions.
Bandai Namco Filmworks announced the Sunrise 50th Anniversary project, running from 2026 to 2028, to mark 50 years since the first Sunrise-branded work, Muteki Chōjin Zambot 3, in 2027. The project includes a key visual of 50 selected works and the Mirai e no Kōro short film project, which will produce six original 3DCG animated shorts in collaboration with other studios. The first two shorts, Dice with Demon and Metafear, were revealed, and the previously announced Armored Trooper Votoms: Die Graue Hexe is also part of the initiative.
Team Tetrapod announced on June 12 that the limited-time Act 2 demo for "Staffer Retro: Psychic Detective Quest" will be available during Steam Next Fest from June 16 to June 23. The demo adds a deeper story, the deduction system, and Japanese voice acting. The full game, the second main title in the Staffer series, is set for release on July 23 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. It follows protagonist Verita Retro, a 14-year-old Sicilian girl who inherits a massive debt and investigates incidents involving supernatural powers called Skills. The series has sold over 210,000 copies total, and the previous game "Staffer Case: Supernatural Reasoning Adventure" holds a Very Positive rating on Steam. The Act 2 demo will be removed after the event until the full version ships. A crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE has raised over 14.7 million yen in Japan and Korea.
REDICE Studio announced on Wednesday that its Overgeared webtoon will receive a television anime adaptation titled Tempal ~Item no Chikara~ (Tempal ~The Power of Items~), set to premiere in October 2026. The announcement came with a teaser visual and trailer, along the main staff and cast. Ayako Kono (Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night) is directing the anime at J.C.Staff, with EGG FIRM producing. Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil) is handling series composition, and Ryosuke Tanigawa (Demon Lord 2099) is designing the characters. Yoshiaki Fujisawa (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) composes the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) is the sound director. The cast includes Tatsumaru Tachibana as Grid and Asami Seto as Yura. Tachibana said he has been a fan of the series since its serialization began. The story follows Youngwoo Shin, a deadbeat gamer who obtains a legendary blacksmith's inheritance inside the VR game Satisfy. Yen Press publishes the webtoon in English under its Ize Press label.
