Infinite Loop announced on July 2 that DLC for the virtual singers MEIKO and KAITO will launch simultaneously for the desktop mascot platform Desktop Mate on July 9. Each DLC costs 2,200 yen and will be available on Steam. The store pages are now open for wishlisting. The DLC includes newly produced 3D models supervised by Crypton Future Media, along with original motions and voices exclusive to Desktop Mate. MEIKO's motions include striking a dignified pose, making singing gestures, checking on the user and fixing her hair, relaxing with a drink, and waving when pinched. KAITO's motions include singing gestures, striking poses, eating ice cream, and leaving with a gentlemanly bow. With the addition of MEIKO and KAITO, all six Piapro Characters are now available in Desktop Mate. The base Desktop Mate software is free. Previous DLC has included Hatsune Miku, Sanrio Characters, and Kizuna AI.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on July 1 that it will stop producing physical game discs for all new PlayStation releases starting in January 2028. The company said the decision is driven by consumer preference for digital media, which now significantly outpaces physical disc sales. Games released before January 2028 will continue to be available in disc format. New titles after that date will be sold only as digital downloads through the PlayStation Store and retailers that sell digital codes. Kadokawa announced on Wednesday a television anime adaptation of Hidenori Yamaji's manga *Soara and the House of Monsters*, with a 2027 premiere window. The announcement came alongside an ultra teaser promotional video, an ultra teaser visual, and the reveal of the main cast and staff. Ikumi Hasegawa voices Soara, a girl raised to fight monsters who finds herself out of work when peace is declared. Ayumu Murase voices Kirik, a dwarf architect who builds homes for monsters. Takaharu Ozaki, known for *BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-* and *Goblin Slayer*, directs the series at FelixFilm. Ayumu Hisao handles series scripts, Tomoko Iwasa designs the characters, and Hinako Tsubakiyama composes the music. The manga launched on Shogakukan's Sunday Webry website in November 2021 and has seven compiled volumes, with the seventh releasing in Japan on August 10. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English edition. Yamaji also drew a commemorative illustration for the announcement.
GungHo Online Entertainment announced on July 1 that its smartphone RPG Disney Pixel RPG will end service on September 30, 2026, at 11:00 JST. The game launched on October 7, 2024, and will run for about two years. The announcement came via the game's official X account and a notice on the official website. Until the service ends, the developer plans to add more main story content and run various in-game events. Sales of paid items stopped on July 1. Sales of Red Crystal payment items, gacha using Red Crystals, and stamina recovery will end on August 19 at 11:00 JST. Blue Crystals will remain usable until the service termination. Unused Red Crystals will be refunded through a dedicated form after the service ends; players are advised to keep their in-game ID and inquiry code. The official website and customer support are scheduled to close on January 13, 2027. The game is a command battle RPG featuring Disney characters in pixel art, including Mickey Mouse, Pooh, Baymax, Stitch, and Maleficent in themed costumes.
On July 1, during the "Chaldea Broadcasting Station Light Version" program, new details emerged for two upcoming Fate/Grand Order events. The "Fate/Grand Order Exhibition -Stargazing Corridor-" will run from July 17 at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo. The exhibition covers content from the beginning of the story through the final chapter of Main Story Part 2 at the end of 2025, and beyond. The program also announced collaborations with Sweets Paradise and a beach house featuring summer-themed illustrations, and the release of "Fate/Grand Order Original Soundtrack VIII" on July 1, with a Maaya Sakamoto theme song best album titled "Yoin" arriving July 29.
Fate/Grand Order will hold a new limited-time event, "Waiting for You at the End of Spring," starting July 1 at 20:00 JST. The event features a scenario by Makoto Sanda, known for The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II. Players who complete the main quests will receive a free 4-star servant, Gray Lily, but must choose between two class versions: Saber or Lancer. The two versions have different designs, Noble Phantasms, and parameters. The event also introduces a new 5-star Alter Ego servant, Ascalaphus, available through the gacha. A player of the urban open-world RPG "Neverness to Everness" (NTE) has identified a character's apartment from a brief shot in the official trailer for the upcoming version 1.2 update, then located and entered the same room in the live game. The trailer, released June 28, shows four characters-the protagonist, Mint, Shinku, and Irohi-gathered in a room playing a board game. The camera lingers on the scene for about 20 seconds of the 7-minute-41-second video, with the view outside the window as the main clue. Japanese X user Necko used the visible landmark Appare Tower to triangulate the building's position, finding the apartment in the northeastern New Holland district south of Rue Soleil. The room's balcony window was open, allowing entry. Necko's post received over 4,000 likes and 600 reposts. The developer Perfect World Games has not confirmed whose room it is; the apartment differs from Mint's home shown in her earlier character trailer. The version 1.2 update, titled "Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Nights," is scheduled for July 8 and adds a permanent board-game mode set in a fantasy world.
