On November 6, Nintendo published the Q&A from its fiscal year ending March 2027 second quarter briefing. President Shuntaro Furukawa said the company will keep delivering new visual content after the live-action The Legend of Zelda film, scheduled for release in 2027, citing the fit between visual content and its dedicated game console business. Director and Senior Executive Officer Yusuke Beppu said Nintendo intends to continue investing in visual content production from 2028 onward, with revenue from theatrical release and secondary use reinvested.

Nintendo began selling the Nintendo Museum Official Book Vol.02 at the museum in Uji, Kyoto on November 5, 2026. The book is A4 size, 60 pages in full color, and comes in Japanese and English editions at 1,980 yen each, with an admission pass holder included. Payment at the museum is cashless only. The contents include a feature on the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda and news from the Nintendo Museum. The museum also installed a limited-time photo spot themed on the Master Sword the same day as part of its Zelda 40th anniversary event. The museum announced both the book sale and the photo spot on its official account on November 5. The book is sold at the art gallery on the second floor of Exhibition Building 1.

Takarajimasha released two The Legend of Zelda mook books on November 2. The Rupee Silicone Pouch BOOK costs 2,992 yen and packs a silicone rupee pouch with an 8-page booklet. The Heart Container Interior Light BOOK costs 3,839 yen and is a resale of a 2023 product. Both come in clear cases and are sold at Lawson, HMV&BOOKS online, and Takarajima Channel.

Nintendo released the Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition in Japan on October 29, priced at 62,980 yen. Reservations sold out at the Nintendo Store and retailers in September, but stock was restocked before release. Several days on, Mercari listings mostly mark the console up by about 1,000 yen and go unsold, and some online stores still take made-to-order purchases.

Amazon.co.jp is taking pre-orders for The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition bundle at 71,789 yen as of October 26. The set pairs a specially designed Nintendo Switch 2 console and dock with a download code for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a 9H hard-coat screen film that cuts blue light by 24 percent, and an Amazon-limited acrylic coaster. The console releases October 29 and the software November 5.

Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology named eight Order of Culture recipients on Thursday, and Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto is among them, the first person from the gaming industry to receive the honor. At a press conference in Kyoto, Miyamoto credited the many people who collaborate on games. The Emperor presents the award on November 3, Japan's Culture Day.

RTA in Japan announced on October 18 the accepted and backup games for its winter event, which will run from December 25 to 31 at Bellsalle Iidabashi First in Tokyo. The lineup spans 90 titles, from recent releases such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Silent Hill f, Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders to older games including Doom 64, Clock Tower 2, Shadowgate and Tengai Makyou ZERO. Nintendo titles are back in number after a summer 2025 event with no Nintendo games accepted, with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess HD, Pokemon Sword and Metroid Prime Remastered on the list. The unusual categories carry the attention: Super Mario 64 gets a blindfolded 9-star run, Donkey Kong 64 gets a 0.0% low-percentage attempt, The Legend of Zelda 1 gets a swordless first quest, Resident Evil Village gets a VR mode run without glitches, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii gets a four-runner race. The detailed schedule is set for October 25.

BANDAI SPIRITS' Tamashii Nations brand announced on September 30 that the PROPLICA The Legend of Zelda Master Sword is scheduled for re-release in April 2027, priced at 29,700 yen with tax included. Pre-orders begin October 1, 2026 at 4 PM. The 105cm replica set includes the sword, a scabbard, and a display stand, and plays Master Sword sound effects plus eight pieces of music from past series games.

Hasbro put its electronic Master Sword up for pre-order on September 9 at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Hasbro Pulse, Walmart, Amazon, and other shops for US$39.99. The 27-inch toy is modeled on the sword from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and carries over 15 sound effects triggered by touch, motion, and impact. Hasbro plans to ship it next spring.

Reservations for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 opened at Nojima Online and Yodobashi.com on September 9. The console, priced at 62,980 yen, is scheduled to ship October 29 and carries Zelda design work on the Joy-Con 2 controllers and the dock, including Triforce motifs. Nojima Online is taking orders with a limit of one per household. The same day, Nintendo's Pro Controller with display stand and a carrying case with screen protection sheet, both in the anniversary design, also opened for reservation. Separately, PowerA announced two Switch 2 accessories in a Tears of the Kingdom design: a wireless controller modeled on the decayed Master Sword at 8,900 yen and a protection case with the Hyrule and Zonai crests at 3,530 yen, both releasing October 9. The Tears of the Kingdom design is PowerA's first release of that design in Japan.

Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2 "The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition" during its September 8 Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, with a release date of October 29. The special edition console has a green and gold color scheme with Triforce designs. A Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and a Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case release alongside it in the same design. The roughly 30-minute stream also covered the Nintendo Switch 2 action-adventure game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," which is scheduled for release in 2026, and non-game anniversary projects. Those include two amiibo, Child Link and Child Zelda, set for 2027; a Nintendo Museum admission pass with a special anniversary design distributed for about one year from September 9; a series history board inside the museum; a Super Famicom Restaurant with a Link figure opening this autumn; a new photo spot from November 5; and a Nintendo Today! app update with Zelda Collection Cards, more than 300 types received one per day from September 9. Nintendo also scheduled a main Nintendo Direct for September 9.

Nintendo announced on September 4 via its Nintendo Today app that two presentations will air on consecutive nights in September. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will stream on September 8 at 11:00 PM Japan time, running about 30 minutes. The following evening, September 9 at 11:00 PM, Nintendo Direct 2026.9.9 will air for roughly 45 minutes. Both broadcasts come ahead of the Tokyo Game Show, and the Zelda presentation coincides with the franchise's 40th anniversary, which began with the original game in 1986. Nintendo has not detailed what either broadcast will show, but sources expect updates on the recently announced remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That game was previously confirmed for a 2026 launch. The Zelda Direct is a dedicated anniversary presentation, while the general Nintendo Direct the next day is expected to cover a broader slate of titles.

Deadline reports new cast for the live-action Legend of Zelda film: Sam Neill, Dichen Lachman as Impa, Yvonne Strahovski as a queen character, and Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf. The film's opening moves up to April 30, 2027, a week earlier than the previously planned May 7 date.

A LEGO set that recreates the original Game Boy at nearly life size is on sale during Amazon Prime Day 2026. The 421-piece set includes brick-built cartridges for Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, a lenticular screen that can display different game scenes, and a display stand. The set is priced at 7,560 yen, an 8% discount from its regular 8,218 yen.
