Tune in to the Midnight Heart is between chapters after a one-week hiatus for creator Masakuni Igarashi's illness, with the manga set to resume in the next issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine on October 14. The second anime season is confirmed for a 2027 premiere with director Masayuki Takahashi and other key staff returning.
The two most recent Yomimono stories about Tune in to the Midnight Heart cover a manga pause and the continued build-out of the anime adaptation. The manga, by Masakuni Igarashi, runs in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine and digitally in English through Kodansha's K MANGA service. The 45th issue of the magazine carried no new chapter, with the magazine citing the creator's illness. Igarashi is focused on recovering, and the series is planned to resume in the next issue on October 14.
The anime side has been moving in parallel. In July, NBC Universal announced that the second season will premiere in 2027. Two new cast members were named: Ami Koshimizu as Riina Yamabuki and Kaede Hondo as Mito Yamabuki, Arisu's elder and younger sisters. Director Masayuki Takahashi and other key staff return for the season.
The hiatus is short, but it lands during a period when the manga's volume releases and the 2027 second season are running in tandem. The stories do not link the hiatus to the anime's production or to any change in the 2027 plan. What is settled is the second season's premiere year, the returning director, and the two new cast additions. The manga's return is set for October 14.
