The Walt Disney Company announced the first wave of programs for D23 Asia, a three-day fan event at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from June 25 to 27, 2027. Each night has a Premiere Stage: a Studio Showcase with Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars footage, a Disney+ Showcase covering Japan and South Korea originals, and a closing Disney Hits LIVE! concert. Tickets go on sale in late November 2026.
Walt Disney Company CEO Josh D'Amaro acknowledged that Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu underperformed at the box office. The film, the first theatrical Star Wars movie in seven years, took $345 million worldwide against an estimated $165 million production budget. D'Amaro said the film still generated value through retail sales, theme park attendance, and gaming. Disney now looks to Star Wars: Starfighter, set for May 28, 2027.
The Walt Disney Company and TikTok announced a global agreement on August 5. The deal will allow content creation using iconic Disney film scenes on TikTok, with selected fan-made content distributed to Disney+. The service will pilot in the United States within the next few months before expanding to other regions.
