The 2026 World Webtoon Awards is in its voting phase with 20 finalists announced and reader voting open from September 17 to October 19. The ceremony is scheduled for December 3 at Starfield Library in COEX Mall, Seoul.
The 2026 World Webtoon Awards have moved through two stages covered so far. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency opened reader nominations in June, and the current phase is a 20-name finalist slate with reader voting open. The finalists were selected from 7,318 nominations submitted by 4,038 fans, covering 941 works.
The awards structure changed between the two stories. The June announcement introduced a nomination-only system, cash prizes, and a category for international works. By September, the final scoring was split evenly between judges and a global reader vote, 50 percent each. Reader voting runs from September 17 to October 19. The June countdown gave July 24 as the close of nominations.
The ceremony date shifted as well. June set the ceremony for December 2 in Seoul. September set it for December 3 at Starfield Library in COEX Mall, Seoul. The two stories do not explain the change, so the later date is the current one.
The organizing bodies are consistent across both stories: the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KOCCA. The cash prizes are described in June as a first for the awards. The reader vote in September is the mechanism by which overseas readers now hold half the final score.
