Yohei Azakami is cast as Yamaoka Shiro in the TV anime New Oishinbo, which is set for a 2027 broadcast. A 2026 reader survey of characters he has voiced placed Lewis Smith from Brave Bang Bravern! first, with Guel Jeturk from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Rinne Amagi from Ensemble Stars!! behind him.
Yohei Azakami's two most recent appearances in Yomimono coverage pull in different directions. The newer story is a casting announcement: he plays Yamaoka Shiro in the TV anime New Oishinbo, which is set for a 2027 broadcast. A teaser PV and scene photos are out. Shin-Ei Animation produces, Kenichi Nishida directs, and Hitomi Sakaki plays Kurita Yuko and Akio Otsuka plays Kaibara Yuzan. The series returns to the Tozai Newspaper's Ultimate Menu showdown with Kaibara Yuzan, and it adds Daikensha president Dan Ichiro as referee and a love triangle around Kurita Yuko, so it extends the old rivalry rather than resetting it.
The older story is a Nijimen reader survey of characters Azakami has voiced, published in 2026. Lewis Smith from Brave Bang Bravern! took first place with 457 votes, up from eighth in 2025. Guel Jeturk from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Rinne Amagi from Ensemble Stars!! followed. The top five stayed the same as last year but shifted order.
What the two stories establish is a voice actor working in both a long-running food manga adaptation and the kind of franchise roles that carry fan-vote weight. The casting is a confirmed lead in a named production with a broadcast window. The survey is a snapshot of how readers rank his existing roles, and it is the only story here that gives a vote count (457) or a year-over-year movement (eighth to first). Nothing in either story settles what else he is cast in.
