Why it matters
The agency is keeping the character and replacing the performer, a choice Ogami P framed as shared by management and everyone involved with Kotone, which tests how far a VTuber persona can outlive the person behind it.
Key Facts
- Tenjin Kotone's possession host graduated at the end of 2025 due to the expiration of her contract.
- SPIRAL STAIRS STUDIO has operated Tenjin Kotone since the graduation.
- Tenjin Kotone restarts activities with a new vessel on November 11, 2026.
- November 11 is celebrated every year as Tenjin Kotone's birthday.
- Producer Ogami P plans a stream on November 3 to explain the decision.
On November 11, 2026, the same date the character celebrates her birthday each year, Tenjin Kotone resumes activities with a newly welcomed vessel. Producer Ogami P said a stream on November 3 will explain the decision in speech as well as writing.
Tenjin Kotone continues as a character while the performer behind her does not. The possession host left at the end of 2025 when her contract expired, and SPIRAL STAIRS STUDIO has operated the character in the months since. The restart date is the character's own birthday, marked every year on November 11, which keeps the persona's calendar intact rather than starting a new one.
Producer Ogami P wrote that the wish to continue Kotone was shared in the same direction by himself and everyone involved with her, and that management chose this option. He also acknowledged that believers may have found things confusing. A stream on November 3 is set as the place to explain verbally, with a further announcement expected within the second or third.
