VIVANT Adds Theme by Azerbaijan's Alim Qasimov and Fargana Qasimova

TBS is building the drama's music identity out of a tradition its own crew found on location rather than through the usual J-pop theme song route, which gives the Sunday Theater slot a theme it can promote on its own terms.

VIVANT Adds Theme by Azerbaijan's Alim Qasimov and Fargana Qasimova

TBS announced that Alim Qasimov, a national singer of Azerbaijan's mugham tradition, and his daughter Fargana Qasimova recorded vocals for a new VIVANT theme. Akira Senju, the drama's music director in Season 1, composed "Qarabag Sikestesi in VIVANT." The production team encountered mugham while shooting in Azerbaijan. A vinyl release, "'VIVANT' THE VINYL," is set for December 2.

Alim Qasimov's vocals and Fargana Qasimova's came from recordings made specifically for the drama, according to the announcement. The song grew out of the production team's time in Azerbaijan, where it heard mugham during location shooting and asked Akira Senju to compose around it. Senju returns as music director after handling the same role in Season 1. Masato Sakai stars in the series, which airs Sundays at 9:00 PM on TBS. The accompanying LP, "'VIVANT' THE VINYL," goes on sale December 2 at record shops and online stores.
