90 CD-ROMs Of Phil Tippett Studio Work Materials Surface On Internet Archive

The studio's shutdown scattered its physical archive, but the bought-and-digitized CD-ROM set keeps the working material for Tippett's stop-motion and VFX credits viewable on the Internet Archive rather than only in the hands of auction winners.

90 CD-ROMs Of Phil Tippett Studio Work Materials Surface On Internet Archive

Phil Tippett's Tippett Studio closed in August 2026, and its props and memorabilia went to auction. A set of 90 CD-ROMs from that auction has now been digitized and posted to the Internet Archive. The discs hold CG animation test clips, Tippett interviews, behind-the-scenes images from RoboCop and Starship Troopers, and work materials from The Empire Strikes Back.

Tippett Studio was acquired by an Indian company in 2024 and later filed for bankruptcy protection under federal bankruptcy law in May 2024 before closing in August 2026. The miniatures, physical models, and materials at the studio went up for auction after that. The upload covers the ISO image files of the 90 CD-ROM set from the auction.

The digitizer, posting as TippettFan, said some of the material is not available even on the Internet and may never be available again at such high resolution, so the CD-Rs were bought and their contents copied.
