One Piece, Detective Conan Get Universal Studios Japan 25th Anniversary Goods
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) announced on Tuesday a line of collaboration merchandise pairing One Piece with Jurassic Park and Detective Conan with Back to the Future, celebrating the theme park's 25th anniversary. The One Piece set shows Monkey D. Luffy at the Jurassic Park attraction interacting with a T-Rex, while the Detective Conan items depict Conan Edogawa and Dr. Agasa in poses inspired by the Back to the Future movie poster, with Conan and Agasa standing in for Marty McFly and Doc Brown. The merchandise includes T-shirts for both collaborations, plus a bottle and tote bag for One Piece, and a mug and figure set for Detective Conan. Items go on sale September 9 at the in-park Studio Style store. As of press time, no prices had been announced. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda and Detective Conan creator Gōshō Aoyama both released statements congratulating USJ on its anniversary, with Oda thanking the park for the annual One Piece Premier live show and Aoyama expressing excitement about the Back to the Future crossover. Purchasers must show a valid admission ticket or annual pass on the day.
