Bandai Namco Sets Early 2027 Console Gore Update for The Blood of Dawnwalker

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on its official Japanese X account that the Japanese PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Blood of Dawnwalker will get an update lifting blood and gore restrictions in early 2027. The Steam version's restrictions were removed in update 1.1, which also added dog and cat petting. Rebel Wolves said on September 4 it was investigating removal of the restrictions.

The console update follows the Steam one by a wide margin. Update 1.1 removed the Japanese Steam version's blood and gore restrictions and added the ability to pet dogs and cats; the official overseas account announced that update on October 16 as scheduled for the following week.

The Japanese account's October 20 post says the console change comes from player feedback and is planned for early 2027. Rebel Wolves, the developer, said on September 4 that it was looking into removing the restrictions after players argued the cuts hurt combat and story.
