Crunchyroll Adds Mashle Season 3 to January 2027 Slate
Crunchyroll will stream Mashle: Magic and Muscles - Tri-Magicathalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc, the third season based on Hajime Komoto's manga, in January.
Reporting from 2 sources: Anime News Network, Anime UK News.
Why it matters
Two sources disagree on the season's title and on the character designer's name, a sign the announcement materials were distributed in inconsistent versions before the new season's actual production has anything to show.
Key Facts
- Crunchyroll will stream Mashle: Magic and Muscles - Tri-Magicathalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc in January, with the announcement made on Wednesday.
- The Mashle: Magic and Muscles third season streams worldwide on Crunchyroll excluding Japan and China.
- Tomoya Tanaka returns to direct the third season of Mashle: Magic and Muscles at A-1 Pictures, with Yosuke Kuroda on series composition and Masaru Yokoyama on music.
- Chiaki Furuzumi replaces Hisashi Higashijima as character designer for the Mashle: Magic and Muscles third season.
- The first Mashle: Magic and Muscles season aired 12 episodes from April 2023, and the second aired 12 episodes from January 2024.
The announcement came Wednesday, with the streamer saying it will carry the new season worldwide excluding Japan and China, and non-exclusively in Southeast Asia with an exclusive India window. Tomoya Tanaka returns to direct at A-1 Pictures, with Yosuke Kuroda handling series composition and Masaru Yokoyama composing. Chiaki Furuzumi joins as character designer in place of Hisashi Higashijima. The returning voice cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Mash Burnedead, Kaito Ishikawa as Lance Crown, Reiji Kawashima as Finn Ames, Reina Ueda as Lemon Irvine and Takuya Eguchi as Dot Barrett. The first season aired 12 episodes from April 2023, the second aired 12 episodes from January 2024, and Crunchyroll streamed both as they aired along with English dubs.
The third season is subtitled The Tri-Magicathlon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc, and it picks up with Mash Burnedead still unable to use magic while attending Easton Magic Academy. Additional casting and production details are promised for later, so this announcement is a license pickup and a staff confirmation, not a full reveal.
The staff list mostly carries over from the first two seasons, but the character design role changes hands: Chiaki Furuzumi replaces Hisashi Higashijima. Furuzumi worked as chief animation director and sub-character designer on both seasons of Solo Leveling. The manga source ended in July 2023, and Shueisha published the 18th and final compiled volume plus a fanbook in October 2023. The franchise also includes novels, two stage play adaptations, and a smartphone puzzle game, Mashle: Muscle Puzzle, which launched in April 2025. The first two seasons are already on Crunchyroll for catch-up.
