Why it matters
The Switch 2 date lands after the PC and mobile launch rather than alongside it, so HoYoverse is staggering the same free-to-play game across platforms by as much as a year rather than shipping day and date.

The Switch 2 release follows the game's launch on Android, iOS, and PC on December 4, 2026. Petit Planet is free to play with item-based purchases. Players take the role of a Hoshimibito and grow a personal star, reshaping its terrain and arranging areas as they like. The game also covers farming, fishing, and furniture crafting, alongside interaction with neighbors and friends who arrive from the sea of stars, with outings and exploration together. The stream also revealed a redemption code usable after service begins. A detailed date for the Switch 2 version has not been set and will be announced later.
The Switch 2 version is set for 2027 as a separate release from the December 4, 2026 launch on PC, iOS, and Android. Game Watch describes it as planned to be HoYoverse's first Switch 2-compatible title, with the detailed release date still to be announced.
Work on the port is ongoing. Game Spark and Inside both say the development team is pressing ahead and preparing to deliver actual gameplay footage and more detailed game content "in the near future."
The November 1 broadcast ran under more than one name in coverage. GAME Watch calls it the "'Petit Planet' Release Preview Program" and gives its airtime as 20:00, while Nijimen and Denfaminicogamer title it the "Petit Planet Release Announcement Program."
Nijimen adds that the program archive is viewable and that store preorders for the December 4 release are open on the preorder page. GAME Watch also points to a beta play report that found the life-sim aspects "surprisingly modest."
