The hands-on report shows Mabinogi Mobile is built around expanded auto features that let quest progression, dungeon clearing, and combat run almost hands-free, a significant departure from the original game's manual play.

Mabinogi Mobile Hands-On: The Auto Features Redefine Cozy Play

Nexon held a media preview for Mabinogi Mobile on August 19, with a presentation from the development team including Mabinogi creator Kim Dong-gon. The free-to-play MMORPG carries over Performing and Production elements from the original, rebuilt for PC and Android/iOS. The Magic Compass auto button advances quests and dungeons almost automatically, while Assist Mode handles combat skills. The game won the Grand Prize Presidential Award at the 2025 Korea Game Awards after launching in South Korea last year.

The development build impresses in a different direction than the original Mabinogi. Kim Dong-gon said the team started from the idea of a world they would want to live in themselves, and Lee Jin-hoon reaffirmed the appeal of wearing clothes you like, playing music, and meeting new people. The Magic Compass button drives quests and dungeons nearly automatically, and Assist Mode activates skills on its own.

Tomoya Kawashima, the Japanese business manager, explained features unique to this title during a Q&A session. The preview ran on a development build, so changes are possible at launch. The screenshots shown were also from development.
