Miyu Tomita Voices Pagtaro in Uncle's Obsession with Cute Things
The role is built on a single repeated word, so the performance rests on what Tomita adds beyond the script, and she describes annotating each "Paguuu!" with an emotion and ad-libbing lines the director sometimes keeps.

Miyu Tomita plays PAGTARO, a rotund yellow pug mascot, in the anime Uncle's Obsession with Cute Things, which premieres this fall. In an Anime NYC interview, Tomita said the character's lines are written only as his catchphrase, "Paguuu!", so she annotates the script with the emotion behind each one and ad-libs extra "Paguuu!" lines in shots where the mascot appears.
PAGTARO is an in-universe mascot and the obsession of the protagonist, Mitsutaka Oji, in Uncle's Obsession with Cute Things. Because the script gives the pug only his catchphrase, "Paguuu!", Tomita writes the intended emotion next to the line before recording, then improvises additional "Paguuu!" lines whenever she sees the character in the frame.
The interview also covers how she separates her solo singing from character songs. For a character, she works from that character's personality and ability, down to choices such as avoiding vibrato, rather than from her own voice.
