The 2000 CG anime 'Popee the Performer' will receive a DVD re-release with the same sparkly hologram packaging as the original 26 years ago. An early sale begins August 11 at the Shibuya Cine Quint merchandise corner during a special event, with general retail shipments starting August 17. The series is a silent comedy known for its absurdist black humor and strong visual impact.
The re-release coincides with the first theatrical screening of the series, titled 'Popee the Performer: Wolf Circus Troupe Shibuya Triumphant Return Performance,' running at Shibuya Cine Quint from August 11. The event includes screenings, exhibits, and merchandise sales, where the early DVD sale will take place. The three volumes, published by Nippon Columbia, each cost ¥5,170 and cover episodes 01-13, 14-26, and 27-39. The series originally aired on Kids Station in 2000 as a dialogue-free 3DCG comedy with absurdist and black humor elements that left a lasting impact on viewers.
