Why it matters
A four-panel gag manga that ran since 2008 is closing, and the end of the print run also closes out the Puchidoru corner of the IDOLM@STER franchise as Kadokawa winds down one of Dengeki Maoh's long-running strips.
The four-panel series launched in 2008 and follows the 765Pro idols and the Puchidoru creatures. Five volumes bundled anime DVDs, and the manga inspired two net anime seasons.
The final chapter runs in Dengeki Maoh on December 25, and Kadokawa will ship the 16th compiled volume at the end of February 2027. Akane's four-panel strip has followed the 765Pro idols and the Puchidoru since 2008, with Kadokawa releasing the 15th volume in December 2024.
The series has carried anime before. Five compiled volumes bundled DVDs, and Dengeki Maoh bundled a Puchimas! Wakku Waku! DVD in October 2012. The manga later inspired the PUCHIM@S net anime in 2013 and a second season in 2014, both streamed by Funimation, which released them on DVD in 2015.
