Sephiria Dev Details Inventory System And The Cost Of Multiplayer

TEAM HORAY's Taehyun Ahn gave a mini-interview about Sephiria, the roguelite action RPG the studio released for PC and Mac on July 31. He traces the inventory system to the accessory items in the studio's earlier game Dungreed and to placement mechanics in Noita and Diablo II, and says adding multiplayer to a design first built for single-player was an unimaginable amount of work.

Sephiria ships as a top-down roguelite in which players take the role of a rabbit defending its homeland, with six weapon types, more than 200 upgrades, and roughly 300 kinds of artifacts and stone tablets to slot into an inventory box. It supports up to four-player online co-op and Japanese language, and sells for 1,980 yen.

Taehyun Ahn, who leads TEAM HORAY, says the design began as single-player. He credits the accessory items from Dungreed and the placement mechanics of Noita and Diablo II as the sources the team drew on, and describes the multiplayer addition as an unimaginable amount of work.
