007 First Light Review Calls It a Near-Ideal Playable Bond Film

Game Spark has published a review of *007 First Light*, the new James Bond game developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the *Hitman* series. The review, based on a playthrough to story completion, describes the game as a near-ideal "playable movie" adaptation of the Bond franchise. It follows a young James Bond before he earns his 00 status, making the story accessible even to newcomers unfamiliar with the film series. The gameplay blends stealth elements reminiscent of *Hitman* with action set pieces including gunfights, hand-to-hand combat, car chases, and explosions. Gadgets such as a hacking watch, a missile-firing pen, and a shockwave camera are available. The review notes that while the stealth sections carry *Hitman*-like DNA, the overall design is more cinematic and guided than a pure sandbox. Players expecting the freeform experimentation of *Hitman* may find the experience somewhat constrained. The game is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for summer 2026.

Fictional VTuber Takes Center Stage in 'Law & Order: SVU' Episode

A fictional VTuber named Jaded_Ember became the focus of an April 2 episode of NBC's 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' titled 'Vivid.' The episode, directed by Norberto Barba and written by Roxanne Paredes and Nicholas Evangelista, features the character confessing during a livestream that she was sexually assaulted. Two fans vandalize her ex-boyfriend's car in response, leading the SVU team, led by Capt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), to investigate. The person behind the VTuber, April, is portrayed by Canadian actress Sarah Desjardins. The episode was first noticed by VTuber Ice mage Sol, who posted about it on X/Twitter. VTuber NewsDrop reported that the series commissioned actual VTuber artists for the model: Somie handled the character design, and Shatra created the Live2D model, with a three-day deadline. Some VTubers, including Sol and Kendra Bratton, expressed disappointment that the VTuber aspect was only used as an introductory plot device, with the rest of the episode focusing on trauma and memory. NBC did not comment on the episode's production.

Uoto and Kenji Iwaisawa Collaborate on Hyakuemu Film Adaptation

Manga artist Uoto, known for "Chi: On the Movements of the Earth," and director Kenji Iwaisawa, acclaimed for "On-Gaku," have teamed up for a theatrical adaptation of Uoto's debut manga "Hyakuemu" (also known as "100 Meters"). The film, released in September 2025 to coincide with the Tokyo World Athletics Championships, follows the stories of 100-meter sprinters, exploring their obsessive dedication to a sport where years of preparation can be undone in fractions of a second. Iwaisawa, who had been a fan of Uoto's work before being approached by producer Yusuke Terada in July 2021, adapted the five-volume manga into a 100-minute film. The production was notable for its unconventional approach: Iwaisawa turned his personal company Rock'n Roll Mountain into a full animation studio after failing to find a traditional pipeline that fit his methods. The film blends rotoscoping, 3D models, and freehand animation, and features a celebrated 3-minute 40-second uninterrupted tracking shot of pre-race preparations that took a year to animate. Character designer Keisuke Kojima played a central role in the production.
