Sunny Side Up will release Happy Kuji "DISNEY Christmas Ornament Kuji 2026" at FamilyMart stores starting at 10:00 on November 7, 2026. Each draw costs 880 yen including tax. The theme for the 2026 edition is "Christmas Dress Up," and the lineup centers on Mickey and Friends in party outfits, red dresses and tuxedos, drawn for the project. Pandora released eight new jewelry pieces under its Disney collaboration, the collection spans Lilo & Stitch, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Cinderella, The Lion King, and Toy Story 3. Roy Lee, a producer on the new Resident Evil film now in U.S. theaters, is developing a film adaptation of Silent Hill, according to The Wall Street Journal. Lee is working on roughly 20 film and television projects, some based on games. The Resident Evil film, directed by Zach Cregger, opened in the U.S. on September 18 and reaches Japan on October 9.

Amazon MGM Studios will stream the Prime Original film Madden on Prime Video from November 18. Nicolas Cage plays John Madden and Christian Bale plays Al Davis. David O. Russell directs and writes. Shochiku will release the Blu-ray of the live-action film Return to Silent Hill on December 23, 2026, at 6,270 yen including tax. The film adapts Konami's psychological horror game SILENT HILL 2 and is directed by Christophe Gans, who also directed the 2006 live-action Silent Hill. Jeremy Irvine plays protagonist James Sunderland, and Hannah Emily Anderson plays Mary. The film began streaming exclusively on Prime Video on May 15, 2026. The disc runs about 106 minutes and includes an original trailer plus a Japanese dub, with Chikahiro Kobayashi as James and Shizuka Ito as Mary. On the same day, Shochiku will re-release Blu-rays of Silent Hill and Silent Hill: Revelation at 6,270 yen each, both currently out of print. Preorders opened September 25, 2026.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey began IMAX advance screenings in Japan on September 4, and demand is running ahead of supply. Grand Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro sold out every showing for September 4 and 5 within hours of tickets going on sale, and other Tokyo theaters reported sold-out screenings piling up. The advance run continues through September 10, ahead of the nationwide release on September 11.
The screenings arrived with a wave of celebrity comments. Director Lee Sang-il called the film "a movie at the extreme point," manga artist Mari Yamazaki said it showed the maturity of film history, and game creator Hideo Kojima praised the all-IMAX presentation as "an Odyssey no one has seen." Astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who returned from space, said the story of a hero carrying guilt after war left him in awe. The film, based on Homer's epic and starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, is the first feature shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Its worldwide box office reached $1.5526 billion (about 251.5 billion yen) as of August 30, the highest for a Nolan film and the highest ever for an R-rated release.

Christopher Barrett, the former director of Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, has settled the defamation and breach-of-contract lawsuit he filed against Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bungie in December 2024. Barrett had sought over $200 million (approximately 30 billion yen) in damages, alleging that the companies fabricated sexual harassment allegations to avoid paying him share compensation and retention bonuses owed after Sony's acquisition of Bungie in 2022. The lawsuit was initially dismissed by the Delaware Court of Chancery in December 2025 on jurisdictional grounds, and Barrett refiled in the Delaware Superior Court in January 2026. On July 9, 2026, a joint statement from all parties announced the settlement. Terms were not disclosed, but Barrett said he was "very satisfied with the result." As part of the resolution, his name has been added to the credits of Marathon as "Original Game Director." Barrett was fired in March 2024 after an internal investigation found he had made inappropriate comments about female subordinates' appearances and relationships.
