The final update for Redfall, released on May 30, 2024, was developed by former Arkane Austin staff who had been laid off when the studio closed that month. According to an interview with The Game Business, director Harvey Smith negotiated with Microsoft to allow six or seven ex-employees back into the studio to finish the update. Smith, who was fired during the closure, asked Microsoft, "I know I don't work here anymore, but can you let me release this version?" and received permission. The team completed version 1.4, which added offline mode, a reputation gauge system, and other improvements. The update was initially announced as canceled, then reversed. Smith reflected that if the game had launched in this final state, it would have been "a far better game," though not a massive hit. He also noted the project was difficult, citing the shift to live-service design, the COVID-19 pandemic, and remote work departures. Redfall, an open-world co-op FPS, was released in May 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S, and received poor reviews for performance, AI, and bugs. Arkane Austin closed in May 2024 alongside other Bethesda studios.

In the latter half of the video, Simon enters the blood-red Otherworld, advancing through the town with a pistol. The game is set on the Scottish island of St. Amelia and adopts a first-person perspective throughout, a shift from the series' traditional third-person view. The CRTV replaces the series' hallmark radio and can detect creature locations through walls. Between expeditions, players return to an expandable hideout to upgrade crafting stations, unlock blueprints, and create new equipment. A closed alpha test runs from September 4 at 19:00 to September 8 local time (September 5 at 11:00 to September 9 in Japan), with participants earning exclusive skins. Japanese language support has not been announced. RoyalCrow previously developed CROWZ, a free-to-play PvP shooter that entered Early Access in 2022 and ended service in 2023.

Sandfall Interactive, the French studio behind the turn-based RPG "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," stated at a postmortem event in Yokohama on July 26 that it will not expand its team despite the game's success. CEO Guillaume Broche said that creativity comes from the constraints of being small, and that knowing you cannot do everything creates the necessity to focus on what is important. The studio currently has about 26 people, and Broche wants to maintain that scale for the next project, aiming to tackle something "a bit crazy." The event, co-hosted by Epic Games Japan, also included a roundtable with developers from Atlus and Tango Gameworks. Broche described the team's achievement as "a reproducible model," not a miracle, thanks to the right people and tools like Unreal Engine and MetaHuman. The game, released in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, sold 1 million copies in three days and 5 million by October 2025, and won Game of the Year at multiple major awards, including The Game Awards 2025 and the BAFTA Game Awards 2026. Despite this, Broche said the ideal is a scale where everyone knows each other's faces and names.

Bethesda Game Studios' labor union, OneBGS, announced on its official Bluesky account that it has taken legal action against the studio over severance terms given to laid-off employees. The layoffs, affecting dozens of workers in Canada who worked on the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series, were first communicated via video call on July 6, 2026, with employment initially set to continue until September while the union and company discussed severance. However, on July 17, the same day Bethesda announced future developments for both franchises, affected employees received an email notification stating they would receive only the legally minimum severance pay, including pay in lieu of statutory notice and unused vacation pay, without union negotiation. Affected workers also lost group benefits at that point. OneBGS stated that this response violates Canadian labor law and that it has initiated legal proceedings. The union commented that while Xbox and Bethesda generate large profits from their workforce, workers are being discarded, and it aims to end the cycle where employees bear the cost of management's decisions.
