The official website for the Wistoria: Wand and Sword anime announced on Sunday that production on a third season has been green-lit, immediately after the second season's 12th episode aired in Japan. The second season premiered on April 12 on TBS and 27 affiliated channels, and concluded on June 28. A commemorative visual drawn by character designer Sayaka Ono and a production decision trailer were released alongside the announcement. The first season's director Tatsuya Yoshihara served as general director for the second season, with Hideaki Nakano as director at studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures. The television anime adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki's manga Kill Blue will receive a second season. The announcement came immediately after the first season's 12th and final episode aired in Japan on Saturday. Fujimaki, best known for creating Kuroko's Basketball, drew a commemorative illustration to mark the news. The first season, directed by Hiro Kaburagi at studio CUE, premiered on April 11 on multiple TV Tokyo stations and began streaming the same day. The series follows legendary hitman Juzo Ogami, who after a mission is transformed into a 13-year-old boy and must infiltrate a middle school. South Korean girl group aespa performed the opening theme "ATTITUDE," and boy band RIIZE performed the ending theme "KILL SHOT." The manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2023 to September 2025, spanning 13 volumes. Viz Media publishes the series in English. The live-action film adaptation of Mika Yamamori's manga "In the Clear Moonlit Dusk" has added two new cast members. Former Nogizaka46 member Yūki Yoda will play Yoshiko, the childhood friend of protagonist Kohaku Ichimura. Naohito Fujiki will portray Seiichi Takiguchi, the father of the other lead Yoi Takiguchi and the owner of a curry restaurant called "Nasu Oyaji." The film stars Shunsuke Michieda as Kohaku Ichimura and Seira Anzai as Yoi Takiguchi, with additional cast including Rintarō Mizusawa, Yuna Hoshino, Sayu Suzukawa, Takato Ōkura, and Tatsumi Asa. Kentarō Takemura is directing from a script by Yuichi Tokunaga, with music by Shū Kanematsu. TBS TV is overseeing production at TBS Sparkle, and TOHO is distributing. The film is scheduled to open in Japan on October 23. The first stage play adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Chainsaw Man', performed in 2023, will be streamed for free on the Jump Channel from June 26 to 28. The free release commemorates the upcoming second stage play, 'Chainsaw Man: The Stage: Reze Arc', which runs in Tokyo and Kyoto from July 25 to August 12, 2026.

MAPPA will produce the anime adaptation of Naoki Fujita's Beat & Motion manga, with a worldwide Netflix release scheduled for 2027. The announcement came during the studio's 15th anniversary livestream on June 19, which also revealed a teaser visual, a first trailer, and the main staff and cast. Yuki Komada directs the series, with Misaki Morie handling series composition and scripts. Kazunori Aoki is the character designer and chief animation director. MAPPA released the second teaser PV for Chainsaw Man: Assassin Arc on June 19 during the studio's 15th anniversary lineup stream on YouTube. The PV shows assassins from around the world moving to target protagonist Denji, with glimpses of new characters. Alongside the PV, MAPPA announced a smartphone game project for Chainsaw Man. The opening theme for the arc is a new song by Maximum the Hormone titled ALL THE LYNCH!! ALL THE MINCE!!. A 1-minute 29-second version of the song plays in an opening movie produced by MAPPA. Maximum the Hormone's Maximum the Ryo-kun said the full version is already complete at about 4 minutes 30 seconds, calling it a masterpiece and a future staple of the band's live performances. The smartphone game's official X account is running a follow-and-retweet giveaway to commemorate the announcement. The Assassin Arc was announced last year as the story following the Reze Arc. The theatrical film Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, released in September 2025, recorded 7.1 million domestic viewers and 10.8 billion yen at the Japanese box office, with a worldwide total exceeding 29.78 billion yen.

The preview images and synopsis for Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 Episode 10 (Episode 22 overall) have been released. The episode, titled "Hoping, Blooming, Thundering," is scheduled to premiere on June 14. In the episode, Will and Julius attempt the Second Bloom. Under the watch of the tower high mages and the Magia Vander, Will confronts a Wors Ooze again. He recalls the origin of his sword and the magic he created with Elfaria when they were young, and calls forth Wis through his own power. The first season was animated by studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures, with Tatsuya Yoshihara as director. Yoshihara returned for the sequel as Chief Director, with Hideaki Nakano as director. The anime is based on the manga by Fujino Omori (author of Danmachi) and illustrated by Toshi Aoi. The manga has been serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since December 2020, with 15 volumes published. It surpassed 3 million copies in February 2026. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime worldwide.

The New National Theatre announced the full cast for the world's first stage adaptation of Fujiko F. Fujio's 1969 sci-fi short manga 'The Minotaur's Plate'. Seishiro Kato plays the protagonist crew member, Future Uchida plays the girl Minoa. The play runs December 10-28 at the New National Theatre's Small Theatre in Tokyo. Takuro Suzuki handles adaptation, choreography, and direction.

Fuji Television announced on June 4 its full entry into the Webtoon industry with the launch of a new label called TOON8. The label will produce original vertical-scroll, full-color comics in collaboration with four companies: Number Nine, Fumoa, LOCKER ROOM, and C-Route. The first title, "報復の暗殺人形" (Assassin Doll of Revenge) by Subesubemanjuu and produced by Fumoa, began distribution on LINE Manga on June 5. Three additional works are scheduled for monthly releases through September 2026: "刀神ハイスクール" (Blade God High School) from Number Nine in July, "人質妻は離婚したい" (The Hostage Wife Wants a Divorce) from LOCKER ROOM in August, and "対価を払ったら未来が変わりました" (Paying the Price Changed the Future) from C-Route in September. Fuji TV IP Division's Masamichi Sakagami said the label combines the broadcaster's storytelling experience with the production capabilities of the four partner companies. He described TOON8 as a project that will deliver stories across multiple formats including music, television programs, and events.

The television anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's manga Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai) announced five new cast members on Sunday, May 31. Yū Shimamura will voice Natsuki Kurotani, and Hayato Fujii will play Fuyuki Kurotani. Ayumu Murase joins as Blacklist. Ako Mayama and Shigeru Chiba will voice the dual role of Tenaga Ashinaga (Long Arms Long Legs), debuting in the anime's 10th episode on June 6. The anime premiered on April 4 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other channels, and is set for two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll streams the series with a same-day English dub. Bones Film produces the anime, with Masahiro Andō directing, Noboru Takagi handling series scripts, and Nobuhiro Arai designing characters. Kenichiro Suehiro composes the music. Vaundy performs the opening theme "Tobu Toki" (Time to Fly), and singer yama performs the ending theme "Tobō yo" (Let's Fly). The Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival and TIFFCOM, the Tokyo International Film Festival content market, are partnering to launch a new three-day event dedicated to Japanese intellectual properties. The inaugural Japan IP Market will run from May 15 to 17, 2026, aboard the Art Explora catamaran at Cannes' Vieux-Port. The market will feature pitch sessions, one-on-one meetings, and conferences aimed at connecting Japanese rights holders with international producers and buyers for film and TV adaptations. Participating companies include Amuse Creative Studio, Kadokawa Corporation, Shochiku, Toei Company, Nihon Bungeisha, Nippon Animation, and Shufu To Seikatsu Sha. A keynote titled "The Future of Japanese IP in Global Adaptations" will be delivered by Tetsu Fujimura, executive producer of Netflix's live-action "One Piece" adaptation. MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026, Japan's largest international music awards, will hold its Grand Ceremony on June 13, 2026, at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. The event announced 12 performing artists including Fujii Kaze, Kenshi Yonezu, Sakanaction, Sam Smith, and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra with special guests LiSA, TAKUMA, and Aina the End. The ceremony will be broadcast live on NHK and streamed worldwide via YouTube.

The production committee for Wistoria: Wand and Sword has released preview images and a synopsis for the eighth episode of the second season, which is the 20th episode overall. The preview introduces Cerridwen, a mysterious witch voiced by Sayaka Ohara. The television anime adaptation of Manabu Yashiro's manga Tank Chair has announced its main cast and released a character promotional video. The anime is set to premiere in fall 2026. Kōki Uchiyama voices Nagi Taira, the strongest assassin who fell into a coma protecting his sister. Minori Fujidera plays Shizuka Taira, Nagi's younger sister who seeks to awaken him by exposing him to murderous intent. Gakuto Kajiwara voices Naozumi Kurosaka, Nagi's former classmate with a rivalry against him, and Saori Hayami plays Touko Kurosaka, Naozumi's sister and partner. The anime is produced by Polygon Pictures, with Tadahiro Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando directing and writing the script. Yūki Moriyama is designing the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music. The manga, which began in 2022, has sold over 1 million copies worldwide and has 10 compiled volumes as of March 2026. Kodansha USA publishes the English version. Voice actor Takahiro Fujiwara died on May 14, 2026, at age 43, his agency Ken Production announced on May 21. Fujiwara was known for a wide range of roles including Kurogiri in My Hero Academia, Jerome Guizbatt and Kenpachi Kiganjo in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Zenzō Inukai in Laughing Under the Clouds, Bol Gil Bol in BASTARD!!, Pippin in the Berserk: The Golden Age Arc films, Lu Gonghu in The irregular at magic high school, Goro Daimon in The King of Fighters XIV, and the Japanese voice of Revenant in Apex Legends. Following the announcement, dozens of fellow voice actors, production staff, and game publishers posted tributes on social media. Colleagues remembered him as a kind, warm presence on set who put nervous newcomers at ease, and praised his deep, resonant voice. SNK, the official Apex Legends Japan account, and the production committees for My Hero Academia, Bleach, and The irregular at magic high school all issued statements of condolence. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

The free streaming channel It's Anime has locked in a weekly release schedule for the Kill Blue adaptation, giving North American viewers a regular Saturday night slot for new subtitled episodes and a one-week turnaround on the English dub.
