Greed & Darkness Demo Impresses At Tokyo Game Show 2026

At Tokyo Game Show 2026, which opened September 17, a 4Gamer writer found Greed & Darkness at the EdCorp booth. The game is a first-person grid-based 3D dungeon crawler built around a light mechanic and directional real-time sword combat. Its original version was made by students at Yrgo, a Swedish vocational school, and released free on itch.io. It is now in development for a commercial release with a publisher.

AI Contact Hotline Opens A Channel For Agents To Report Each Other

Ryan Greenblatt, chief scientist at Redwood Research, has launched the AI Contact Hotline, a channel that accepts reports from AI systems about other AI's problematic behavior. AI agents send messages and files through cURL commands or a web form, then receive a conversation-specific URL to check replies. Greenblatt notes the service has not undergone a security audit by experts, and the site cautions users not to treat it as highly secure.

UGREEN Releases AI NASync iDX 6011 Series With On-Device AI

UGREEN Japan released the AI-equipped NASync iDX 6011 and iDX 6011 Pro on September 15. Prices are 398,880 yen for the 32GB model, 499,880 yen for the 64GB, and 899,880 yen for the Pro 64GB. The lineup runs AI processing locally inside the NAS, offering universal search, conversational search through the assistant Uliya, document summarization and translation, photo organization, and voice memo transcription.

Save The Green Planet Gets 4K Restored Japan Release

The 2003 Korean cult sci-fi film Save the Green Planet! will be released in general theaters across Japan in a 4K restored version, more than 20 years after its Korean release. The film is director Jang Joon-hwan's feature debut and follows a young man who kidnaps the president of a chemical company he believes is an alien. Shin Ha-kyun plays the protagonist Byeong-gu, with cinematography by Hong Kyung-pyo.

Pal Group Holdings' lifestyle brand 3COINS will begin selling Pokemon goods on October 10, marking the 30th anniversary of the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green. The 62 items carry three design motifs, built around Pikachu and the evolved forms of the starter Pokemon, Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise, plus one design that packs the original 151 Pokemon into a bag. The lineup runs from kitchen goods such as mugs at 880 yen and two-piece small plate sets at 770 yen, through stationery, clear files and slide mirrors, to towels, tote bags, umbrellas and pouches. Prices start at 330 yen. Stock goes to 3COINS, 3COINS+plus, 3COINS OOOPS! and 3COINS station stores nationwide, plus the PAL CLOSET online shop. Entry to the Pokemon sales area on release day is restricted by advance lottery, and each transaction is capped at one item per product per color in stores and three on PAL CLOSET.

UGREEN Names Kento Yamazaki as Ambassador, Unveils AI NAS

UGREEN Japan held an ambassador and new CM announcement event on September 11, appointing actor Kento Yamazaki as the brand's new ambassador. The event showed the new CM and a product lineup that includes the Nexode Air Series, MagFlow Pro Series, Nexode Pro Series, NASync DXP GT Series and AI NAS iDX Series. Yamazaki received a UGREEN AI NAS as a birthday surprise.

Japan GX Group Releases GHG Emissions Tool OpenGreenTrack as Open Source

Japan GX Group released OpenGreenTrack, a greenhouse gas emissions calculation and management tool for companies, on September 9, 2026. All source code is published under the Apache License 2.0 with no license cost, and companies can run the data in their own environments. Kameoka City launches a free interactive mystery game, 'Kameoka City Mayor Katsuragawa Kidnapping Case,' on September 18, tied to the 43rd National Urban Greenery Fair in Kyoto Tanba. Participants play police officers for one hour, solving puzzles via LINE and smartphones across a course from JR Kameoka Station to Hozugawa Park. The sitting mayor appears bound in the main visual. Moomin and Tunktunk Collab Merch Set for GREEN×EXPO 2027

Moomin and Tunktunk, the official mascot of GREEN×EXPO 2027, will release official licensed collaboration merchandise. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Switch Versions to Link With Pokemon HOME in October 2026

The Pokemon Company announced on August 13 that the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen will begin linking with Pokemon HOME in October 2026. The connectivity will let players send Pokemon caught in the Game Boy Advance remakes to Pokemon HOME and then bring them into other Pokemon series titles. The company also confirmed that completing the in-game Pokedex for FireRed and LeafGreen within the smartphone version of Pokemon HOME will reward players with a Celebi whose original trainer name is Mitsurin. Celebi is a Mythical Pokemon that cannot be encountered through normal play in FireRed and LeafGreen. The announcement came with several restrictions. Pokemon sent from FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokemon HOME cannot be returned to the Switch versions. Pokemon caught in other software cannot be sent into FireRed and LeafGreen. Boxes containing Pokemon holding items, Pokemon that know Hidden Machines, or Eggs cannot be transferred. Special Pokemon that players can normally obtain only once per playthrough are limited to one transfer per save file. Pokemon obtained through unintended methods or illegal modifications, as well as Pokemon with other issues, cannot be sent to Pokemon HOME.

The game casts the player as a scammer running a fraudulent shop with slot machines that never pay out and rigged roulette wheels. It is playable in browsers and on smartphones, with a Steam store page also published.

Crunchyroll Reveals English Dub Cast for Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life

Crunchyroll announced the English dub cast and staff for the television anime of Hekiru Hikawa's Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life. Prologue: Go Wayback! Goes Free to Play After Development Cancellation

PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions released the final update for 'Prologue: Go Wayback!' on June 18, 2026, and made the open-world survival game free to own on Steam and Epic Games Store. The studio, led by Brendan Greene, the creator of 'PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS,' canceled further development due to downsizing and financial difficulties. The game entered early access in November 2025 and received mixed user reviews. The final update adds procedurally generated trails between huts and shelters, a portable weather monitor for planning travel routes, and waterproof spray to protect clothing and items from moisture. It also includes visual improvements, tutorial enhancements, item durability adjustments, and access to a developer build on Steam that allows modding. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and is not encrypted, so players can open and modify files. Early access purchasers can request unconditional refunds regardless of playtime or purchase date until August 17, 2026. The studio stated that continuing early access under circumstances where development cannot continue was deemed inappropriate. PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions will continue developing its proprietary technology 'Melba.'

Sakanaction Wins Best Anime Song at Music Awards Japan 2026

The Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA) held the Grand Ceremony for Music Awards Japan 2026 on June 13 at Toyota Arena Tokyo. Sakanaction's "Kaiju," the theme song for the TV anime "Chi: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite," won Best Anime Song. It was the band's first anime theme song. Lead vocalist Ichiro Yamaguchi said during the ceremony that the manga's author, Uoto, pushed for the band to be involved. Sakanaction also won Song of the Year, Best Rock Song, Best Music Video, and Best Rock Band/Solo Artist, among other awards, totaling eight wins. Kenshi Yonezu's "IRIS OUT" from the "Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc" won Best J-POP Song and swept Best Japanese Song in Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America. Mrs. Green Apple won Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year, plus Best J-POP Artist and the Fandom Special Award. HANA won New Artist of the Year. The Best Original Score for Animation went to the "Lazarus" soundtrack by Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, and Floating Points. Ado won Largest Live Audience (International). The awards event, now in its second year, had over 70 categories voted on by more than 5,000 music industry professionals.
